We are in Canada and contemplating two trips to DLR in 2013.It might make sense for us to buy AP's and I am wondering if tax is added to the price or if the face value is what you pay?

The face value is what you pay.

In California, the prices include all applicable taxes. In Florida taxes are added. The exception is the premier (not to be confused with the premium) pass, taxes are added to the Florida portion of the pass. If you buy in Florida, they figure you will be using it more there and the taxes will be higher than if you buy it in California. No matter which lovation you buy it at, the tax rate is Florida's rate.

Thank you cmwade77! I was looking for an answer to how the pass works, tax-wise, with the premier pass!

I'm curious about the tax on the premier pass as well. I have only purchased it in Florida so I am assuming if tax is added it would be cheaper in FL than CA since the tax rate is lower in FL. Or is tax not added to the CA version but only for FL?? I'll know more tomorrow when I renew my premier pass in CA. It will be interesting to see. :)

There is no sales tax added to the tickets in CA, unlike FL.

So when you buy the Premier in Anaheim you pay half the FL tax as a comprimise to the tax situation since it is assumed it will be used in both locations.

Do you collect air miles? It might be well worth your while to redeem air miles for a 5 or 7 day parkhopper - then 'upgrade' to an annual pass once there.

Small correction, but taxes aren't included, because, surprisingly such a grossly tax heavy state, there is no tax on tickets in California.

I didn't know Airmiles had Parkhoppers:eek: I think I have about 5000 miles.I'll have to check on that.I'll never fly using Airmiles again. That was a rip off.
Thanks for the heads up:flower3:

This is correct. And to be clear, the Premium AP, including relevant taxes, costs the same whether you buy it at DL or WDW. --Suzanne

Suzanne SLO - you were correct. The pass would have cost the same at either park since they only added FL sales tax.

So here's the bottom line... My Premier passes today cost $773.35 each which included $48.70 per pass in FL taxes. In fact, the taxes were a separate line item on the receipt.

Now if the WDW site would let me enter my updated AP I could look at discounts! (Errrr... it says it has unexpected errors and to try again!)
