Hi! This is my first post and I have a question about tattoos and the 'disney look'.
I plan on doing the International College Program for summer 2012. On November 6th I will be getting my first tattoo of cinderella castle! I can't wait, I've wanted a Disney tattoo forever. I'm fully happy and sure of my decision to get it, but the only slight worry I have is how the tattoo will effect which roles I could work in regarding costumes....
I plan on getting it above my ankle, and it's going to be about 3 x 3 inches in size. Obviously this would mean I would have to work in a role where pants were available as uniform.
Has anyone dealt with this situation before? If I hear that it will cause too many problems I may change the placement of it to on top of my foot, but I really do have my heart set on the ankle.... eek I'm so confused right now!

Hope someone can help, let me know if you have any info on this situation at all! Even if you could just tell me what sort of percentage of roles allow full length pants that would be great :)
Thanks!

I would suggest just waiting, honestly. I have a tattoo on my wrist and have to cover it with a watch. It gets really hot there and you will (most likely) have the option to wear shorts. If you get the tattoo, there goes shorts.

There is some really expensive tattoo make up you can buy. It's called Dermablend. I got it at Dillards. It didn't work that well. Sweat has a way of taking the make up off and believe me, you'll be sweating!

Sadly this can't really wait - I'm getting it on my 20th bday to mark the beginning of the rest of my life... I've been through some very rough years with some serious health problems and I feel like 20 is a new beginning for me. That's why I'm getting the castle with 'wishes' on a banner underneath it, that show holds an amazing amount of meaning for me. Anyway, I'm highly considering getting it on my foot now - even though I'm scared of the pain as I've heard it's the worst spot! Because of my health issues I will have to wear some form of sneakers all the time anyway instead of flats or whatever so it should always be covered that way :)
Thanks for the advice!

Oooo! I have a tattoo on my foot, too! I love foot tattoos
Anyways, mine is completely covered by an ankle sock, and most of the time people don't really notice it until the 5th or 6th time they look down when they're around me :rotfl:
What i'd do is take a sock and mark where the top of the sock is, just so that you don't have to wear pants on your CP. talk about hot! :furious:
Oh, and I have a PDF of a chart that lists tattoos and eligibility for roles that was passed on to me by a former CP-er. If you like, I can send it to your email for you to look at :)

While I was in the cp I knew quite a few people with tattoos. If it's on your ankle, it should be okay, but like the other poster said, you have to see how far the socks will cover. If you had a role with a skirt costume- you could wear non- opaque tights like really dark black or nude ones that aren't see thru. Otherwise they will switch you to a strictly pants role like stewarding, parking:scared1:, custodial, front gate, etc. Not bad roles, but maybe not ideal...

That pdf would be very helpful! My email for all things disney is disneyworldwishes @ gmail. com princess:

I worked CP in 2008 and have a tattoo on my wrist. I was a cook at Artist Point and Whispering Canyon Cafe. I wore a band aid or a sweat band on my wrist every day until one of my coworkers said it didn't matter since we are in the kitchen. You could probably cover it with a larger band aid.

If it's on my ankle it's going to be way too big for a bandaid :/ The foot option is look much better right now!

I think it'd look really cute on the foot, IMO. I may not have any nor plan on getting on, but I do have many opinions ha ha. I think it'd look real pretty on there and then when you come play in the parks you can wear (comfortable) flip flops and show it off! :goodvibes

Hey did you get my email? Jw.

Hey! Yes I just checked my email this morning and got it :) It was super helpful thanks! It makes me a little less worried about getting it on my ankle/lower leg, seeing as the only job it says you can't do is lifeguard or rec.
I think I'm going to have to go with my gut instinct on this one and get it where I want it... if my costume includes shorts then I'll just choose the pant option instead, and if it includes a skirt then I'll just wear the most opaque tights possible and use dermablend :)

Thanks for the opinions though everyone!!!

I actually was gonna say, you shouldn't let the CP define something that's so important to you. Go with your gut!

I don't have any tattoos, but I've seen fellow CM's with foot tattoos that weren't even covered. But personally I would cover it. I saw one girl wrap it up with beige bandaging and then she wore tights over top of it and I couldn't tell until she unraveled it after her shift.

Hey guys I have a question. So I have a tattoo on the inside of my right arm. I'm gonna be applying for Fall Advantage next month but I was wondering, for times like this when you're just hanging out at the pool, do tattoos have to be covered up? I know at work, classes and for traditions you have to have the Disney Look, but I don't know if it's like that at the pool too.

I have tattoos(rather sizable ones) on the fronts of both shins. Does this affect my eligibility and does anyone know what positions I won't be able to get?

you probably won't be able to be a lifeguard (maybe recreation), but most other positions would have an option available to cover.

Here is an article w/ pics that they posted about tattoos.

60,000 people work at WDW. There are lots of people, even some that would shock you in upper level management, with ink.

I know someone who has a full sleeve tattoo. They just wear a long sleeve shirt in their role. As long as the ink can be covered, you shouldnt worry.
