Is it illegal to get a Tattoo of Mickey???

Is it un-manly to get a tattoo of Mickey?

I am thinking of getting a small 2"-3" Mickey on my outer calf/ankle.. what do you think?

Not sure if it would be illegal or not... I'm assuming you're worried about copyrights? With that said, I've seen plenty of people with the little guy on them!

I have Mickey on my back/hip area. I have no idea about the copyright laws, I'm sure Disney wouldn't like it, but as long as your tattoo artist doesn't have a problem - go for it. I've seen lots of people with Disney characater tattoos. I don't think it's unmanly, although I haven't seen many men with ankle tattoos. Side of the calf would be better IMHO.

I think that for the most part, artists don't really have a problem with it. I did, however, have one artist whose shop didn't contain *any* copyrighted images on their walls. He told me that for him, it wouldn't be worth the hassle if someone came in with copyright issues. He went on to say, though, that if someone came to him with an image that they brought from home, he wouldn't have a problem tattooing it on for them.

I got my tattoo off of google.com. I found a picture of what I wanted...brought it into the tattoo parlor and the guy traced it out, altering it a bit to make it more tattoo friendly.

Oh, I almost forgot: If you're going to get a small tattoo, keep in mind that over time, it might not hold up well. You need to be really good about using a high SPF sunscreen (colors will fade otherwise).

As far as the size of the tattoo, you'll want to get something that is "proportionally sound". An example that comes to mind is an armband that's 1" thick on a guy built like the Incredible Hulk. It kinda resembles a piece of string tied around that arm. Also, the amount of detail will make or break a nice piece of small ink. Too much detail gets lost in the translation.

On VH1's Totally Obssessed they said that only the Disney Tattoo Guy (George Reigel) can legally get a Disney tattoo.

Honestly...Mickey or any cartoon character, for that matter, on a man is a bit feminine, unless that's what you're going for. I'm also not big on the ankle look on guys either. IMO, lower back and ankle tats are for women only. I'd go for something a bit more masculine, but reminds you of your visits to Disney (maybe a tat of a chick that you hooked up with at PI! ) and put it on my calf muscle if you want to put one on your leg...way cooler and mas macho!!

Taz is feminine?? That's one of the more common tats I see on guys.

I'd have no problem with a guy having a Mickey tat, but I also agree that the ankle or calf may not be the best area. My nephew put a tattoo on the back of his shoulder and I thought that was strange for a guy too.

Of course I was in church at a men's group class last night and one of the guys had Metallica tattooed on his inner forearm

Taz is feminine?? That's one of the more common tats I see on guys.

Especially Taz!! A tattoo of Taz is like the vanilla ice cream of the tattoo world. So boring and unoriginal. In the world of tattoos, there are so many cool ways to go, why stick with something that every other kid who goes to your college has? I personally would go for an old school black and gray pinup girl on my arm, but that just me...and this is all just my opinion in the end! Do what makes you happy!

But have you SEEN George's tatoos? We saw him at Disneyland at the 50th Celebration on July 17th. They are NOT very good quality tatoos in person (although he DOES have a lot of them)

Personally I think Mickey would be just fine on a guy. Ankle for a man is a little odd, either the calf or the upper arm is a little more traditional. Mine is on my ankle, but I'm female.
Even Minnie mouse on a guy would be cool, if the right pose.
But I guess I'm partial to men not afraid to show their "softer" sides, cause my husband's like that. I find it sexy.
