Tattoo advice???

It's a big decision!! It took me a very long time to not only decide to finally do it but to decide on what I wanted tattooed on my body for the rest of my life. It sounds to me he has thought this through carefully and knows exactly what he wants. That’s what matters.

The only thing that I would tell you is that particular design, as he ages, has a great likelihood of losing its definition and looking like a giant lump. a friend of mine is a tattoo artist and refuses to do tattoos like that for that very reason. He also might have to have it touched up peridiocally because white fades or doesn't show up on a lot of skin tones for some reason. I had to switch the stomach of my tattoo (tigger) to cream for that reason.

Just something that he might not have considered that should be thought about before he goes in for his appointment.

Okay, I have to ask - How did you remove it yourself? It either had to be very painful, or you have some serious laser skills. ;)

I would love to save $600!!!
I was around 11 when I put the tatoo on myself, my friends and I were into "homemade" tatoos. It was a small "L" on my hand and the the next year I took a needle and removed it myself. I am o.k. with needles, so both things didn't bother me too much. I have a small scar, but it is the same tone as my skin and is not too noticable. I have another "L" that I burned onto my hand...around the same time. That is less noticeable too as I have aged...my friends at the time would burn happy faces onto their hand from lighters...those are still noticeable after many years. That same year I added three peircings to my ears...
 I don't look forward to my kids being preteens

Ack! I think I'll stick with lasers! You must have a VERY high pain tolerance! Yeouch!

Good point! Also for a lot of people, reds fade for some reason. I'm one of those that white doesn't take on.

The centers of my flowers are supposed to be white, but they're tan now.

How is your laser removal going? I want to get rid of all 3 of mine. They are soooooo 'everyone has them' that I hate them (even though I love the pictures). It is only $600 to remove your whole tattoo? 2 of mine are kind of big.
Thanks! :teeth:

DO NOT RECONSIDER

It is his body noone elses!!!!! if he wants a tat let him get 1. I hate nothing more than people who try to bring down others from doing something they want.

I have 4 piercings and some tats also. Others try to say bad things about it, but then I throw it back at them that I would rather be myself than have to force my own beliefs on others, to try and make myself out to be someone more important than I am.

He's an adult who wants to rememeber his father.

DO NOT RECONSIDER!!!!!

I agree - I have 5 Tattoo's (including a "disneyquest-ish" mikey head on my right shoulder. I regret NONE of them, what-so-ever at all. And as you can see in my siggy pic - my fiance has quite a few and also, regrets none of them.

Now, the cross-armed doggie wouldnt be my style - but my multi-colored sun, I have may not be your hubby's. His body - his choice.

I decided to have my husband take a pic even though it's still healing. I posted it on a Tattoo pic thread: Pic of my Tattoo
it still has lotion on it so it looks a little blurry. :teeth:

Brave lady!

(Did you know that the same design is on the cover of the New King James Bible edition?)

So does your dh like your tat?

I have always wanted one. I don't know where I would put it if I got it though. I would want to be able to cover it if I wanted to and have it show if I wanted it to show.

For women, lower back, ankle or shoulder are popular.

For men, chest or arm are widespread.

(So, does you're grown-up son know his mom wants to get a tattoo?? does he like the idea???...)

Okay sorry I forgot to post here
I started another thread

but here it is on his Left arm shoulder area and he loves it

Now I am trying to decide what I want for a Tat :confused3

Ah! will it be your first tattoo?

Brave lady!

For women, lower back, ankle or shoulder are popular.

For men, it's often chest or arm. (Women do it there as well, but these are especially popular male placements.)

Hi all-

Just wanted to comment on the nice tattoos being posted. I have 2 right now and when my DH comes home from his deployment to Kuwait (November) we are going to get new ones. He already has lots....some tribal around his arm, gargoyle design, the zodiac signs for me and the kids, lots...it looks really good though. They are all on his uppper arms, all around. I have a rose on my ankle (got when I was 17) and a tribal butterfly on the front of my left shin- kinda lower towards my ankle....

Dh wants to get a gargoyle holding a fairy (suppose to represent him and I) and then I would like to get the same fairy maybe laying over a bubble with the face of the gargoyle in the bubble...something like that so they interchange...

Fun fun fun! I was trying to decide if I should hire one of those tattoo artists in the mean time so we can get it to be exactly how we like it or just wait until we go down to the parlor....Anyone have experience with the online artisits you can hire?? Sorry if I hijacked this thread! Everyone seemed chatty about tattoos!!
