Tarzan show at AK

We really enjoyed the Tarzan rocks show last summer at AK but if I remember right they said it was closing down. What was the replacement? Is it any good?

Tarzan is closing in January 2006, so there is still a chance to see it if you're going in the next couple of weeks. I don't think a replacement has been officially announced, altho there has been a lot of speculation about what it will be. Seems to me there was talk on this board about a Little Mermaid themed show ... but I'm not 100% sure that is correct.

Finding Nemo will open in the fall of 2006 after they enclose the theatre. I have it on very good authority (I know that sounds so iffy!) but I have actually heard the demo CD. DD loves it!

That could be interesting with Nemo. Now if they would fill it up with water it would be great during the summer months.

I agree that Tarzan fits the theme better, but the show wasn't vert good and it wasn't really about Tarzan. I'm glad they are changing it

What they've said about the Tarzan Rocks show indicates that the show is more about the movie, and even more specifically about the music, than it is about Tarzan. The story is a context for the superb music and lyrics, which are showcased in the show. Having said that, though, the show has been there a while, and so it is surely time to close the show and create something new.

So, if I'm hearing everyone right, Tarzan closes in 2006 (January) and the other show (possibly Nemo) won't open until Fall of 2006. So our trip in June, no show in animal kingdom?? Bummer if that's so. Nemo would be cool, my kids would love that, just wish it would be there in June.

That's correct. The last Tarzan Rocks show will be just after our trip, in mid-to-late January. I'd be impressed if that Fall 2006 date sticks. Gosh, they're enclosing the theater, so basically building a building around it, in what -- eight months? Wow, that would be some accomplishment!

I never got an "official" answer on that but probably b/c Nemo seems to be more popular than Tarzan.
The show will probably debut in late fall-think November- so that would give them about 10 months to close the theatre. I think they have to do something because of Expedititon Everest? I haven't been to AK since '99 so I don't really understand the layout but I think there may be noise/ sight pollution???

We'll be very sad when Tarzan Rocks closes. My kids got to be King and Queen of the jungle there and it's going to be hard to go back and not be able to see the show again.

You're forgeting, maybe, the SUPERB "Festival of the Lion King"?

MUCH better show for a wide variety of age-ranges than the rather weak Tarzan Rocks.

Does anyone know the EXACT date that they are planning on closing the Tarzan show? We will be at the AK on January 11th. We missed the show in Feb when we were there and would like to see it once before it closes - even though Nemo would probably be a bigger hit with my girls than Tarzan.

Only DISNEY knows the "EXACT" date, but based on what has been printed here about this for many weeks, it looks like the last show will be on Jan. 21, 2006.

I am so surprised they are closing Tarzan...especially since Tarzan is coming to Broadway Spring of 2006. My prediction is that if the show becomes a hit(whch I can't imagine it won't) they will revamp the show and base it towards the play.

I have seen both Lion King and B&B on Broadway and find the wdw shows try to emulate it somewhat. especially the B&B show.

I am seeing tarzan in April...will report how it is.
