Tarzan’s Treehouse to be Rethemed

Interesting how the article hints at an Encanto retheme. That was my immediate guess the moment I read the headline.

It's a shame though. This was closed on the two times that I've ever been to Disneyland so I never got to walk through. It seemed neat from what I was able to see from the Indy queue :(

It was cute, though a little dated now since it was done in 1999. Also, Tarzan isn’t huge with most people these days I don’t think (my kids have never seen it). But they enjoyed walking through it and especially playing at the base of the tree, which had interactive things. I always remember it as the Swiss Family Robinson tree, which is what it was through my childhood.

Encanto would be outstanding. With newer technology available I think they could make it amazing. If they did that it would likely make this attraction far more popular than it ever was.

I agree that an Encanto retheme would be AMAZING and they could do some really cool things. I wonder how they would handle queue that might come with that what with the current entrance kind of being in the middle of a busy walkway? Maybe they would "reverse" the flow which would give them more room on the Indy/Pirates side for potential queue?

I'll miss the tarzan theme. My kids always loved going up into the tree, and especially the musical "instruments" at the base of the tree.

OC Register article linked in OP said:
In the movie, young Antonio Madrigal has a magical rainforest bedroom where he can communicate with animals. [?missing word?] sells a $30 Antonio’s Treehouse play set based on his bedroom in “Encanto.”
Hmmmm, I wonder if Antonio's bedroom was themed specifically to refresh a dated attraction? Hmmmm ....

Edited to add: Refresh it all you want ... it will always be Swiss Family to me??

Would love for it to be Encanto Themed. Everyone I know (me included) adored the movie. Tarzan was nice but it did seem a bit dated when we went last time, I think it was 2019 so I'm excited to see something new.

My understanding is that they're going to remove the 'separate tree and rope bridge' that causes the narrowing of the walkway, putting it back the way it was pre-Tarzan. That should help a bit with crowding in that area.

Personally I'd rather it go back to being SFW or just a generic jungle treehouse with lots of cool 'inventions' in it. As popular as Encanto is right now, it will soon be yesterday's news and once again the treehouse will be 'dated'.

Then they can retheme it again! That's the great thing about it.

The whole theme of "Our family is special and entitled" kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when normal 'muggle' grandma treated her granddaughter like crap because she came out a low life 'muggle'.

I totally agree with you that the way the grandmother treated Mirabel was horrible. I disagree with you about the message of the movie. The family never asked for special treatment from the community. We saw the burden Isabel was under to do the heavy lifting for members of the community.

Exactly!

Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

Our kids have no idea what the heck SFR is. I barely remember the movie, though I have lots of memories of the treehouse as a child. They did a great job with Tarzan, they'll do a great job with the next evolution, whatever it may be. Disneyland doesn't belong to any one generation.
