Taryn and Andy's Honeymoon Extravaganza!! 11/9/-11/15 Trip Report Updated: 3/24/10

I was on a mission that morning to get a lot done! It was easy though with no lines!

You'll just have to wait for the rest!! :rolleyes1

Oh yes empty parks are the best. I can believe how empty people have been saying the parks are this month.

More please :)

Day Two (11/10/09) (cont.)

Next: "Hydro-what now?"

So far, we had gotten a lot done and even though everything was new to Andy, I had done the same old stuff I do everytime I come to Disney. Now was time to do something I had never tried before and something I knew Andy would love!

A Behind the Seeds Tour! Our tour was at 11:15 so we had to get there around 11 to be there on time. Now if you are not familiar with this tour, you might be familiar with the ride Living with the Land where you get to take a boat through Disney's Greenhouses. Well the tour lets you actually walk around said greenhouses and you have a tour guide who tells you all the inner workings. It was actually extremely interesting and very informative.

Just warning you, this post is pretty much all pictures:

This is the Creative greenhouse: Most plants grown here are using Aeroponics (a fine mist sprays directly on the roots of the plants) or they use rotating columns and A-frame structures. Our tour guide is Austin!

This is one of those plants that when you touch it, it shrivels up! Don't worry it goes right back to normal in like a minute or two.

They showed us how we could make our own hydroponic system at home with a fish tank.

14HoneymoonDay2.jpg

This is the String Greenhouse, where I think everything is vertically grown. We got to sample a cucumber like the one you see in the picture below! It was really good.

Next up is the Temperate Greenhouse which features plants from more temperate climates.

Then we moved into the Aquacell, where they devote time to Aquaculture. Basically it is the raising of fish, alligators and big shrimp.

And the final room was the Tropics Greenhouse, but I forgot to really take any pictures in here, so there is just one:

The tour was so cool and we both really enjoyed it. I think it was only around $15 per person and I think it was totally worth it. I think on a future trip we will definitely try it again. Since the tour was an hour long we were done around 12:15, so it was time to rush out of there because we had to make our lunch ADR!

Up Next: "Don't stare down the sting ray!"

That tour may have to wait til my Madi is a bit older, but thanks for sharing your pics and experience! It looks fun! :thumbsup2

That seems so cool. And it's a pretty inexpensive way to see behind a little bit of the Disney magic. I'm glad you guys had fun.

Cool tour, love the cotton plant :)

I know the red is most prob there for the heat, but the pic with the Ali's looks a tad scary to me (not a big fan of reptiles).

The tour looks like a great bargain and very informational. It's on my "someday" list!

It really is! I totally recommend doing it at least once.

Well, they actually gear the tour toward who is in the tour group. My DH and I were the youngest people there so they left out all the kid stuff, but they do things like let them release lady bugs, feed fish, etc. So maybe in a couple of years you can check it out!

Those were my thoughts exactly!

Awww, no they weren't scary. They were babies and pretty much just chilled there the whole time.

I am definitely subbing! popcorn:: My DH and I spent the first half of our honeymoon at PO-FQ in June and we are returning to WDW in 2 weeks so we can enjoy all the Christmas spirit!

Congratulations on your marriage! How fun to honeymoon in WDW! I see we are almost neighbors (I work in Fredericksburg but live in Stafford). We are going to WDW in one year and I'm so excited. I hope your new husband loves WDW as much as you do!

Day Two (11/10/09) (cont.)

"Don't stare down the sting ray!"

So after our awesome tour we had to run over to the Coral Reef to make our ADR at 12:30pm. I was excited to eat here but also a little bit nervous. I have eaten here plenty of times and have always enjoyed my experience. The food has always been fine, as well as the service. However I have read many reviews on the boards complaining about both! I wanted it to be as it had been in the past and I wanted Andy to still be convinced that all his meals would be delicious! Guess we'll find out, huh?

We got there and we were seated within 5 minutes. Lucky us we got a table right next to the tank!! There was a sting ray sitting right there and DH decided it was staring him down. I had to convince him otherwise, but it did not stop their staring contest.

Everything looked so delicious it was hard for us to decide on what to get, so we ended up getting more than we probably needed. However I must say, this was one of our favorite meals of the trip. Everything tasted absolutely amazing!

I started off my meal with the creamy lobster soup.
29HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Andy started with the Sea and Land (Grilled Shrimp with Cucumber Salad and Barbecued Beef Tenderloin Skewer with Creamy Polenta)
30HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Then our entree's came out! I got the Apricot-braised Beef Short Rib with Crushed Yukon Gold Potatoes, Snap Peas, Sweet Peppers, and Barbecue Glaze.
31HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Andy got the Seared Chicken Breast served over Spaetzle, finished with Applewood Smoked Bacon-Chicken Broth
32HoneymoonDay2.jpg

While we were eating I noticed that some divers had come into the tank to do some cleaning! I was so excited that I started to take pictures.
33HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Of course he spotted me and started to swim over, plopping himself right in front of our table to watch us eat.
34HoneymoonDay2.jpg

35HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Then a little disney magic happened! He motioned for DH and I to stand up and hold each other (which we did of course), then he motioned for everyone watching to clap for us. While people were clapping, he picked up the seashells from the floor and kept throwing them up in the water making it look like confetti. I must say it put a huge smile on my face and really made me feel special! Thank you Mr. Diver! Now it's time for dessert:

Even though we were full, Andy got the Baileys and Jack Daniel’s Mousse topped with a Ganache and Chocolate Cigar
36HoneymoonDay2.jpg

and I got the Chocolate Wave! I wish I knew what was inside, but it was very tasty.
37HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Oh man! So full! But my faith in Coral Reef remained and I was glad that Andy had enjoyed the meal as much as I had. Since we were so close to The Living Seas, it only made sense to head in, so we rode the clammobiles and started to explore. We watched the Dolphins as they played games with a CM and then we sat and stared at the manatees. (My favorite sea animal!) The fatter one stole lettuce from the smaller one!! I felt bad for the poor dear :guilty: Of course I found some excellent photo ops! BEWARE OF THE GRAPHIC NATURE!! :rotfl:

A dead Taryn hang's in Bruce's jaws.
38HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Oh no!! I'm being eaten! Help me!
39HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Andy chummin' up with Chum
40HoneymoonDay2.jpg

After we left, I tried to get pictures of the outside but it was crawling with children. This was the best I could get:
41HoneymoonDay2.jpg

42HoneymoonDay2.jpg

I wanted to see Honey I Shrunk the audience but when we went over there they had just finished letting everyone in for the movie and we would have to wait for another one. We decided we would rather just head over to Innoventions. Mostly we just wandered around but we did try The Great Piggy Bank Adventure!!! Andy and I saved for retirement and of course we won!

Please excuse my hair, the humidity from the ever looming dark clouds started to make it curl:
43HoneymoonDay2.jpg

After that we headed to the other building and tried out Storm Struck! I must say I learned a lot and we saw a guy from the weather channel on the TV before the attraction. Now everytime we see him on TV, Andy and I look at each other and scream "Storm Struck!!" I wanted to try Sum of all Thrills but the line was getting a little long and Andy said he wasn't sure his stomach was up for the simulator. I didn't push it, I can always try it next time! So instead we stumbled onto the Disney Visa Meet and Greet.

Excited that Andy had met the mouse himself, it was time to make our way to World Showcase!

Welcome, and I hope you have an awesome time on your trip! I wish I could be there for x-mas.

Congratulations on your marriage! How fun to honeymoon in WDW! I see we are almost neighbors (I work in Fredericksburg but live in Stafford). We are going to WDW in one year and I'm so excited. I hope your new husband loves WDW as much as you do!

Howdy neighbor!! Yeah I think you are only a couple of hours away. He did love it! Maybe not as much as me, but there is time to fix that.

The Coral Reef place looks so fun. I've never been there but hopefully I will soon. And the diver doing that shows how magical Disney is. No other place would do that. And the Bruce pic is pretty funny.

It really did and I was so excited that we got the attention! I think DH thought it was pretty awesome too.

We love Coral Reef. So glad it remained true to you!

Oh man me too! I would have been sad if the food wasn't good, but it really was one of the best meals we had.
