Targeted Upgrade offer?

Currently booked for Christmas week at All Star Sports. Received a “targeted” upgrade offer trying to get me to upgrade to A of A Suite, Coronado or PO Riverside.

I did the math and it’s no better than just booking that hotel from the main website.

What a joke! Anyone else get this recently?

Good on you for doing the math. They are sneaky.

Just wondering as I’ve never stayed at any of those resorts, do some have more transport options or are all bus only?

All Star Sports - Bus only
Art of Animation - Bus and Skyliner to Epcot and Hollywood Studios
Coronada - Bus only
Port Orleans Riverside - Bus and boat to Disney Springs

Okay, it’s coming back to me. We once considered staying at PO because of the proximity to DS and boat transport. Thanks, people!

Call back with a counteroffer that is half of the price of the upgrade amount. Sounds like they overbooked. Both Coronado and POR are very large and have numerous bus stops. The boat to Disney Springs is nice for POR .

I have a reservation for ASM in late November and received a similar “offer.” There was no savings. I really expected at least some discount over booking the “upgraded” resort normally through the website but it looks like it is just a trick to try to get people to spend more.

Was it an email or phone? I wouldn't be able to think that fast on a call.

Email, because it is not an oversold situation where they need to move people. It is just trying to encourage people to pay more for a better category of resort. The email provides a phone number to call, and also directs you to where you can see the upgrade “offer” on MDE.

Got the same type of offer for my Thanksgiving trip. No discount at all. Thanks but no - I'll stick with what I booked.

That’s really crazy, hey we are so nice, we are willing to give you the opportunity to spend more money.

Here’s the email. It doesn’t exactly say there would be a discount but sort of implies it’s a special/discounted offer when it isn’t; it just provided the price to change to a more expensive resort but at the same cost available on the website otherwise.

We are booked at POFQ 12-20 through 12-24 and got the same "offer" to upgrade to Boardwalk, Yacht, or Beach. I would have loved to upgrade if there was a discount...but it was pretty much the exact same price I could go onto the website and book those resorts for right now. That's a no for us.

Are any of you booked using a discount that is about to end?
Or... not to spread rumor (because I have no source)... but is it possible prices are going to increase...?

People on the POFQ thread have reported receiving these emails. No discount, though. They are trying to get people to upgrade so they can sell more lower priced rooms. Smart of people to do the math!

Ooh we got that as well. Staying Christmas week. Funny though I received the offer went to check it out under offers where it told me to and it was no longer available to me so I called. Gave them the code they never told me that the offer actually was but I had originally did 4 day park tickets and had changed to 5 day park tickets earlier the same day and they said because I changed how many days for park tickets we were no longer eligible for the offer 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. But now I know what they were trying to do!
