Target has all vidoe games buy 2, get one free this week. Is that a good deal or should I wait for better? I know I need at least three video games for Christmas, so I'm wondering if this is a good enough deal to just pull the trigger and buy them now or if I should wait. Thoughts? Thanks, oh wise Budget-boarders! :)

We bought the buy 2 get 1 free games. On there receipt it says how much you will get back if you return certain games.

I thought it was a good deal, seeing if one of the games goes cheaper than that price somewhere else I can return it. And I wouldn't have to return all 3.

If the games are newer it would be. video games don't tend to go on real sales where it just costs less as new games tend to be at certain levels ($50 for wii, $60 for xbox and ps3) when they are new.

If the games are older or you would be ok with used games then you should see what they are costing in other stores first.

I think itis a great deal. My son asked for three new XBOx games for Christmas at $60 each. I bought two and got the third free...so it basically saved me $60.

try Gamestop or a used game store. I not a hard core gamer. But I do buy a few PS3 and Wii games a year. I stopped buying new games last year. After I fought a few new games from Target and the games were horrible.

I didn't like the thought of buying a used game. But after you buy a few games at $45-$60 and realize after 20 minutes they suck.

Gamestop you can buy the games used. and if you don't like them or if they are damaged you can return them for a full refund within 7 days. This has saved me a about $150 since last Christmas.

Some games you buy used will only save you $5. But once again if you don't like it, return it. It was hard for my wife to understand. Until she bought a new game from Target, opened it up and my son played it for about 5 minutes and said he don't like it. She then realized that Gamestop was sometimes a better options.

But on the flip side. Some games are better off buying new. Like some PS3 games. Some games have free downloadable content. If the orignal buyer uses the codes to redeem those which everybody does. Then you can't get the free content, like cars from some racing games, or maps for first person shooter games.

I have been shopping the Target b2g1 sale every year since 2009 for Wii games and it is a good deal a majority of the time. Just check your prices first on older games to Amazon and Walmart.

DD wants a 3DS this year, so I bought 3 games this week and almost bought a Nintendogs game. I went on Amazon.com in the store to check the reviews and it was half the price! All the other games I bought were similar prices to Amazon (w/in $1.50).

Also, like a PP said if you see a game cheaper you can return just one and don't have to bring back all 3, so I see it as a no-risk buy. The only time I have seen a game cheaper is when Best Buy runs a daily deal and Amazon matches it for the day.

I got in on this deal because both my kids own xbox's. First thing is always check amazon for prices. Then I usually buy them 3 at a time and make sure all three are the same price. I still need to pick up two more games and I want to hold out for the amazon buy1get1 sale. I sure hope amazon offers it again.

It depends on the 3 games. 3 20$ games if they are games your kids want is pretty decent, but most of the 60$ games will probably go on sale for 40ish so that's an even savings but if you have a target debit card that's an extra 5% off too.

Also 3 newer 40$ 3ds games is a good deal because the good first party games probably won't drop below 30$.

Last year, TRU did do BOGO on their video games, which is a better deal than BTGO, but no guarantees they'll come through again.

If you're buying the new releases, I'd have to second what the others have said... pick them up now (since you want three anyway), save the receipt, and return them if you find a better deal elsewhere.

And just in case anyone is looking, TRU is selling Assasins Creed 3, which was just released Tuesday morning, for $47.99 this weekend. (with shopping pass in their ad)... I am *PO'd*!!!! DH pre-ordered from Gamestop and paid full price.

Which reminds me, another poster recommended Gamestop. I don't. If you are looking for used games, you can usually find them cheaper on Ebay/Amazon (look for a seller who will refund if there's something wrong)... and they almost-never have sales like you see at TRU and Target.

Awesome -- thanks a lot! I checked Amazon and the prices are similar so the deal is ON! Thanks for the scoop!
