I noticed this the past couple of weeks when I entered my Target store. I had no idea what it was about and I usually too busy to stop for the details. Today, I saw it in one of the magazines that I get on my iPad. The hot link in the ad took me to target ticket.com where you get 10 free movies in your library if you sign up, add a payment method (REDCard credit or debit gets you 5% discounts on purchases), and link your Ultraviolet movie account.

So, I did all of that. I actually thought that there would be a decent selection of movies. Nope. There were a total of 28 movies from which to select your 10 free movies. And they all remain in your cloud, so you must have an internet connection in order to watch. They weren't even close to "recent" releases - Crocodile Dundee, Mono Lisa Smiles, Alien, Ghost, Hall Pass - just to name a few.

I checked the prices on downloads for recent releases and it costs just as much to "rent" a movie through Target as it does to rent from my cable company! Their purchase prices were no bargain, either.

What I'm trying to say here is that I was unimpressed with it. If you don't have Netflix, Amazon Prime or cable TV, then it might be worth it just to have those 10 movies to watch when you're bored. But I think that there are more affordable ways to rent/purchase streaming video in the long run.

Thanks for sharing the details! I was wondering about this when I saw it in the store.

You can download them also, to watch them without the internet connection.

Thanks for posting about your experience. I saw the ads and was curious. I won't waste my time now :)

Why not look for yourself. It's still 10 free movies, and while the selection was not huge and they were not all great, I did get several that I really like. You can get the 10 free movies and not pay for anything else, it's not a subcription service.

I agree with OP. I saw the signs in store and signed up. When I saw the selection of free movies, I immediately cancelled.
