I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I was just browsing Target.com and noticed that they are offering $5 off on $50 of digital prepaid gift cards. The details are:

spend $50 save $5 on digital prepaid cards

Save $5 on a $50 purchase of qualifying digital prepaid card items. Discount applied at checkout. Quantities limited. Clearance items excluded. May not be applied to previous orders. Offer expires 3/21/2015 at 11:59pm PT.

I ordered a $50 Starbucks Card and was able to save a total of 23.5% by doing the following:
  1. Purchased a $50 Target gift card at my local grocery store using my Amex Blue Cash Preferred card which gives me 6% cash back at grocery stores.
  2. Earned 3X in fuel rewards for an additional 3% savings. (each .10 fuel reward only saves me $1 on a fill-up because I have such a small gas tank)
  3. Purchased the Starbucks Gift Card at Target.com for 10% off ($5 off $50)
  4. Started the transaction with my Red Card as my default payment method and then switched it to the Target gift card, saving an additional 5%.
There were a number of dining and movie gift cards to choose from, including Landry's which can be used at the Rainforest Cafe.

I was able to place two orders for two $50 Starbucks card and get the $5 off each time. I don't know if they limit you at some point. I'll save the gift cards for our next Disneyland trip, where we tend to visit Starbucks multiple times per day.

I only stumbled across it because I was buying a Starbucks gift card and was surprised to see $5 taken off my total. I went back and looked at all the specialty gift cards and could see the offer was available for many of the dining and movie cards. Didn't see it advertised anywhere prominently on the website.

I have not really heard of Landrys. Do I need the Landrys memebership before buying the gift card. I am kind of confused.

I went ahead and placed a third order, this time for a $25 Starbucks and a $25 Rainforest Cafe. We've never been to Rainforest Cafe before and plan to try it for breakfast the next time we're at Disneyland.

Could you please elaborate on this....
"Started the transaction with my Red Card as my default payment method and then switched it to the Target gift card, saving an additional 5%."
I have the Red Card and some gift cards, but I don't know how to use the Red Card to get the %5 discount but also use the gift cards...or did I not understand?
Thanks!

So, here's the weird thing. I just went to the Target website to start the ordering process so that I could accurately describe the steps needed to get the 5% discount using Target gift cards. I noticed that Disney gift cards are out of stock, which happens occasionally. So instead, I picked the same Starbucks e-card that I bought a couple of weeks ago (on which I had received a 5% discount) and put that in my cart instead. For some reason, the 5% discount didn't show up even with my Red Card as my only payment method. I added a random lamp to my order and could see the 5% discount appear on that item, but not the e-gift card. Thinking maybe it had to do with it being an e-gift card, I looked for a physical gift card to add to my cart. It took me a long time to find one. Many of the physical gift cards were out of stock or only available in stores. I finally found a physical xBox Live gift card and added it to my cart. Again, with only my Red Card as payment, I went as far in the ordering process as I could without actually submitting the order and still no 5% discount on the gift card part of the order. I'm wondering if this is a temporary glitch or did they not only close the loophole of us getting the 5% off paying with gift cards, but also eliminating the 5% discount on gift cards using the Red Card. I ended up editing my cart to remove the gift card, leaving just the lamp and was able to switch my payment method to use a gift card to cover the entire balance and the 5% still remained so that hasn't changed. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Looks like you're right. No discount on gift cards, no matter how you pay.
Hope it's just a glitch!
Wonder if you still get 5% off in store on gift cards when you are paying with your Red Card?

Ugh. I'm sick to my stomach. Hopefully it's temporary. At least I know I can make use of Target gift cards so not all is lost.

I bought a Disney gift card in store yesterday with my RedCard and got a discount...
Thanks for joining in. I believe people are referring to Target .com and not B&M stores. The REDCard discount on GCs appears to have disappeared online.

off point a bit.... has anyone else here had problems geting the free shipping using target redcard on purchases online? I can't get it to work....
