Target Red debit card fyi

So before when my target debut card was not a chip card it would take days for my purchase to post to my bank account and was the the same with every transaction maybe 3 to 4 days between the date of purchase and the money being withdrawn.

I have noticed in the past month that the purchases have been posting a lot quicker lately. Yesterday was the quickest! I shopped at 2:30 ish pm and the money was gone this morning from my bank account.

I don't know if everyone found the same delay as I had or if it was a bank or Target issue. I don't know why suddenly it has changed. May be it's because it's a chip card or maybe it's an update to Target or my own bank. Idk.

Just thought others may want to know. And before anyone decides to start lecturing or scolding anyone on here or me. I know no one should go to the store planning on depositing the money after the purchase but sometimes things happens. And yes I know no one's bank accounts should be that low also. Just wanted to inform others.

I just got my regular card from the bank with the chip. I wonder if it just as fast. I will have to check it when I use it.

Haven't got my new card yet but agree that it takes 2 nights right now before it shows up out of my bank. Thanks for the heads up, I have always thought it was interesting that it took so long for it to show up and this is the only card that it happens with. Love my Target debit card for the discounts..and also Cartwheel.

Mine used to take exactly three days, two for Target to process and one for my credit union to reflect the debit. Somewhere in the last year, maybe a little longer it has been almost instant, within a couple hours. So long before the chip. I actually prefer it that way, leaves less room for mistakes.

mine is almost instant now ... it's been like that for several months, though. upside is that refunds are also equally as quick.

One by one, banks, stores, etc. are putting in faster payment processing systems.

In some cases, accepting chip cards required a revamping of the store's system therefore it could be coincidental that the speedup in debiting your accoutn happened at the same time.

It takes two days for transactions to clear using my red card that is linked to our credit union but it's almost instant if I use the red card linked to Wells Fargo.
