Before I have just bought the gift cards at Target to get the 5% off for our trips. But I recently got the Disney Premier Visa card. Which one is better to use? Thank you!

It is simple math. The Disney Premiere give 2%, the Target Red Card give 5%.

However, if you plan on shopping at the parks, you get 10% of a purchase of $50 or more on most merchandise using your Disney visa. There are also certain restaurants where you get 10% off if you use your Disny visa.

That is true. I never spend that much, so I didn't even think about that.

So for hotel & food Target gift cards. For "large" merchandise purchases you will get the 10% discount & 2% reward - so Disney Visa on those.

IF you go to Chase's website and look for all rewards cards, you'll find that right now they are offering a $200 Disney gift card if you spend $500 in the first three months on a premier card. Premier card has a $49 annual membership fee, so you'll want to close the card before the end of the first year, but that $200 gift card is $151 in profit (after paying the annual fee). I use my disney VISA all the time anyhow, getting 1% back on everything I charge, but the premier card gives 2% back on gas, groceries, restaurants... and this is where I spend the bulk of our money each month anyhow! No worries, it gets paid off each month. I am thinking of getting the premier card for the gift card and the additional rewards points. (planning a 21st birthday trip with DD to food&wine in Oct. 2015 so want to make it as affordable as possible.)

Yes, this is where the majority of our charges go too, but you have to spend at least $4900 in gas, groceries, and restaurants in a year just to break even. Chase gives you a break down of your charges and the last time I looked, I figured we would only do slightly better than breaking even.

But the $200 gift card (provided you charge $500 in the first 3 months... heck I could do that in the first three hours by filling my oil tank) will offset the $49 annual fee and leave you with $151 in profit, in addition to the rewards. I'd only do it for a year, and if I were to guess, I bet we spend about $2000 a month just in gas, groceries, and restaurants; we eat out WAY too much! However, I have all my itemized bills from the past year and might take a look, and see where the costs really lay. I still think it'd be worth it for one year (or just under a year, to avoid the annual fee!).
