I had been slowing buying a couple of gift cards for the trip with my RedCard to save the extra 5% but now I am just getting anxious and want to pay our trip off. Like everyone else, I need lots of them and I am limited to 3 at a time online. Does anyone know if they have a limit in the store? I wouldn't go in and clean the out but I would like to buy more than 3 at a time. Maybe 10 or so.

I have bought several at once in the store (like up to $1000). But I have also ordered multiple off the website. I just placed several orders of 3. With the Red Card discount, you get the free shipping so it just comes through as several payments, and I usually get them all the same day. Since our closest Target is about an hour away, this is easier for me.

Thanks. I just place 4 orders online but I am being impatient waiting for them. I was thinking of running to Target on my lunch break and picking up some cards. Luckily I have a Target 1/2 mile away from my work and 3 more within 10 miles of my house. I can always make my rounds if I need to.

The only think that would stop you is the credit limit I think.

Although I'd also think it's totally possible for different Targets to have different rules about that sort of thing.

I have bought $3500 in one transaction before & had no problem. (That does depend on your credit/debit limit though)

They have them by the cash registers as well as back in electronics.

Sometimes, it takes a while for the computer to go through when processing, so have some patience.

You could always call and speak to the manager on duty......that way you would know before you go schlepping around

Do you have a Red Credit Card or Debit card?

Credit= whatever your limit is otherwise no limit

Debit= Some weird formula that nobody knows or releases

With Debit it depends on your length that you have had it and your spending history. The amount that you have in your linked checking account has nothing to do with it. Even with that crazy unknown limit they can call the number on the card and get approval to do a larger amount. When I went last year I have about $2k worth to buy at one time. I was denied but the manager called the redcard number and got approval based on my history. They told her to either run my personal debit card extending my 5% discount to that one purchase or to run the cards through in multiple transactions. Even then they still would not tell her what the limit was. She ran through about $500 at a time with no issues.

It may help to call the redcard # beforehand and let them know your intent but maybe not?

Good luck!

I just left the store with $500 in gift cards in 1 transaction with no problem. I was going to buy more but since there are so many Targets close to my house I figured I could wait. Sadly I feel like I go to Target at least once a week so I won't have too wait long. At least it will give the other transactions a chance to clear my account. $500 in the store today, $600 online earlier today.

Now my next question, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you can take multiple cards to the Disney store and have them combined. Does anyone know if there is truth to that? Once the trip is paid off I plan on buying more cards to pay for room charges. It would be a million times easier if I only had 1 card to deal with instead of a ton of $50 ones.

Disney Stores will not combine gift cards. It's something they stopped doing several years ago.

The debit limit is set by your bank. Bank of America, by default, set a lot of debit card limits at $500 per day. You can increase that to $2,500 per day online. Other banks will have different daily limits.

Nope, not true. You cannot get the cards combined.

While that is true the Target Red Debit Card is a complete different entity that has nothing to do with it, atleast with my bank. My bank debit card has a $2k limit but the Target red card transaction has no effect on that limit. It is counted as an EFT not as a debit card transaction.

Me too; worked great!
Count your cards before you leave and make sure that's the total before discount on your receipt! On one big order the cashier missed one of the cards but I noticed before I left. It was a big pain to figure out which one, but better than being $50 short of the amount I wanted to buy!
I have never ever had an issue with cards activating, but I still check each one when I get home on disneygiftcard.com to make sure.

I bought some gift cards for our previous trip - probably just over $1000 all together. I never checked if they were activated after purchasing them at Target- just that they were all listed on the receipt. Upon check in I had the front desk add them to my magic band. One card was coming through as having $0 on it. I couldn't believe it. I had the CM check it multiple times. I checked it on the Disney Giftcard site from our room and it said it had never been activated.

When I returned home, luckily I found the receipt with the card number on it, otherwise there would have been nothing they could do. As it was, Target refused to do anything. Disney worked it out after a number of phone calls and emails back and forth. So lesson learned... Check those cards as soon as you buy them!

Thanks for the good advice. I have not been keeping the receipts:guilty:

I tape my receipt to my gift cards but I am going to actually check them before we leave next month too. THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP.

I used to work at Target, there isn't really a limit. It would depend on your Red Card, if you max that out you'll be limited of course.

And if you buy like 20 it might raise a red flag, but I'd see people come in and buy 5-10 with no issues.
