Target Debit Scandal Fallout Question

Be careful! I also got an e-mail from USAA Bank asking to confirm my identity through a link in the e-mail. However, I don't have any accounts with USAA Bank! I deleted the e-mail.

I imagine scammers will try to use this Target breach to get identity information. If you don't recognize the bank contacting you, do not click any links in the e-mail.

Smart money handlers know that your bank, whether it be USAA, or someone else, will never directly ask you via e-mail to "confirm your identity".

Unfortunately, the type e-mail you are referencing is usually targeted at senior citizens, who may not have a lot of experience with the internet.

If something is ever wrong with any bank account, the bank may send you an e-mail asking you to go to your bank's website (usually without links) to check your bank mail/account.

Plus, phishing e-mails are often full of bad grammar and spellling errors. I actually got one from USAA shortly after I made my previous post. Check out this sentence from it:

"During our usual security enhancement protocol, We observed multiple login attempt error while login in to your online USAA Bank account."

All I can say is, huh? ;)
