Seems like not much made it past Christmas at any of my stores nearby. What about yours? I went at 50% and people weren't even buying whats left. Just price checking it and putting it back and saying it was still so much more than every other store. I just ended up buying from Hallmark, CVS and Rite-aid.

Oh yeah...wasn't the stuff in past years so much...prettier? Not to mention the cost of the pricey wrapping paper has gone from 3.99 to $5. The packs of tissue paper are now half the size and I think about a dollar more.

Not as good as prior year but my Target was at 50% on Thursday and then went to 70% on Friday. I bought a few things at 50% from the Dollar Spot clearance like party favors/stocking stuffers. I went back on Friday and ended up with some gift bags and more stocking stuffers. I got a Duncan yo-yo that was originally $4 for 89 cents. I also got a Cars squinky set for $1.50 and Cars magnets, sticker books, and pens for 30 cents each. I also got one of those Harry Potter Lego figures for $1.19.

:yay:

I agree, in previous years, the stuff was prettier. That being said, I have only bought 1 "Christmas" item from the clearance, another knit animal ornament for DS#2's tree. I did buy some Lego Harry Potter and Cars Squinkies for Easter baskets, though.

Yes, I didn't see nearly as many things this year. Last year, I got a great deal on some extra silverware. I was glad there wasn't as much because it was easy not to be tempted. I did buy some sprinkles at 50% but should have waited because there were still plenty there at 70%.

I did not see anything great at Walmart or Walgreens either.

I was at target today and the Christmas stuff was 70%just off...I said something to the cashier about coming back in a few couple days to try to pick up some things when they went down to 90%you off and she said that they were doing clearance different this year and that there wouldn't be any 90% sales this year. She actually said that after today they would be sending everything to salvage...perhaps this is just at our targets in nc, but nonetheless I was glad I stopped in today to pick up a few things.

Sorry this is so full of errors! So hard to do this on my phone ...Lol

I did quite well at both of my local Targets. Waited until they went 70%, but I still got Starbucks coffee, lots of pretzel/graham cracker/nut snacks, cookies, cookie mix, wrapping paper/bows, table cloth, ministocking stuffers, and clothes/socks for my baby coming soon. I put back the Hickory Farms stuff, mostly because we didn't want it. But, there was tons of other stuff, like gift bags, ornaments, etc.

One store definitely had more than the other, and I'm pretty sure they send the clearance stuff to certain stores. Overall, I did about as well as other years and only bought stuff I plan on using or eating.

I bought a Cinderella polly pocket style doll in Christmas packaging in the stocking stuffer section today for 70% off. I also bought a pair of Christmas socks and a Barbie Christmas coloring book for 70% off. These items will go in my youngest daughter's stocking next year. I bought some pink penguin wrapping paper at 50% off last week for the Santa gifts next year (my little one saw the paper and loved it so I went back later and bought it). I will have to agree, however, that there is not much left.

Yes, DH was there on 12/26 and hoping to find a marked-down razor...no luck. DS got a $5 gift card from his teacher plus he had some allowance saved, so we were hoping to get a LEGO deal today and he ended up paying full price for something. The LEGO is cheaper there than at the LEGO store but it was disappointing to find very few toy deals. I also found some tights for DD which I bought but they were not marked down AT ALL - I ended up finding a better deal afterwards at ChildrensPlace.com so I will return the Target ones. Oh well!

Our Target had hardly any good Christmas stuff this year. Fewer aisles. It was priced higher to start with - and the packages were smaller. I guess they have caught on to how we all wait for it to go 70% off and hold it to the next year :) I guess they priced everything to still make a profit when it was 70% off. :sad1:

Your cashier may be right -- especially, if your store was one of many remodeled for the grocery expansion during 2011.

Several areas towards the back of the store -- particularly, the automotive and seasonal deparments, lost several asiles to make room for fresh groceries.

I'm thinking when the next big thing gets set-up in the seasonal area ("The Great Save"?? plus an aisle or two dedicated to Valentine's Day), what's left of Christmas will immediately go salvage and not hit 90% (I have 3 remodeled stores within an 8-mile radius of my home). Two stores are nearly sold-out of holiday merchandise while the third (one of the busiest stores in the area) seems to be overrun with a lot of holiday stuff...

My advice to anyone seeking holiday deals at Target -- best pull the trigger and get that stuff, now...

I guess they priced everything to still make a profit when it was 70% off.

They are in business to make a profit not give things away at less than cost-if they did that they would shortly be out of business.

I have also heard the rumors that Target won't be doing 90% clearance anymore. I haven't even gone as friends told me there was hardly anything left the day after Christmas. We are going tomorrow for some toiletries, so I will be interested to see if there is anything left.

something else I noticed was my target isn't selling the christmas red/green storage bins for storing your Christmas decorations. In past years, as a Christmas aisle cleared, they filled the shelves with these so the store would looked stocked. This year, they have just cleared the aisles, and there is nothing on these shelves. I looked everywhere including the the storage bin aisle, and there are no Christmas colored ones. I guess it is something that lasts so long, that once you have them, you have them....maybe not a big seller anymore? Of course I haven't needed any in years, but this year I do since I have accumulated more stuff.

I miss my old Target.

I was disappointed in Target's Christmas stuff even BEFORE it went on clearance, but especially now. They didn't have many fun gifty food items (nuts, cheese/sausage trays, cookies, etc.) And none of it to be found on clearance after Christmas. Not many boxed ornaments. Not much of anything!

All our store has is snack type foods and ornaments, go figure.

I am going back up to our Target today to see if the Christmas stuff really is gone. Not that I need anything else, but my curiosity is piqued ;)

One thing they had that was cool were those Hex Bugs in little ornaments for $1.50. I also stocked up on some $.30 stuff like sticky notes, pencils, erasers, a Rudolph nose, etc. to put in the pockets of our large Lands End Advent calendar next year. I just bought that on clearance last year and used it for the first time this year. DD had a blast with it, so I'll do it again next year. With 25 pockets, it can add up to a small fortune if you don't shop wisely! So I figure I was able to fill it up for under $10...not a lot to pay for a month of fun...:thumbsup2

Yesterday, we hit the Supertarget (needed groceries, and it was on the way home).

I picked up 5 rolls of wrapping paper @.75 each (usually 2.50); a tree stand for 6.00 (usually 19.99), and some bows @.90 a bag (not sure of regular price, maybe 3.00?). Oh, and 4 bags of Cinnamon M&Ms for 1.34 each (the guys love them).

There wasn't a whole lot of "Christmas" left. Mostly those felt, single ornaments. No lights at all. Wrapping paper and bags had the biggest presence.

They did have a lot of toys/clothes on clearance--you had search the aisles though; they weren't grouped in any one area. They had Jaguar/Gator clothing on 30%; toys ranging from 25-50% off.

I hit the dollar store the day after Christmas. I got wrapping paper (Disney and Rudolph and Frosty themed) at .50 each; tiny stocking (2 pack) for .15 each; bags for .13 each and tags for .50.

Target and Walmart both advertised the packing bins, and neither has them in stock. Both Targets and Walmarts (in my area) have been out of those since 2 weeks before Christmas.

At 50% off my Target was picked cleaned & people were loading up baskets like it was free. My CVS is still only 50% off! I'm dying for 90%.

I stopped on Thursday when it was still 50%. I had to keep telling myself that I really didn't need a camping stool with a cooler and a picnic set since I haven't been anyplace to use either one in years! There wasn't much left and we left with a box of candy DD wanted and a box of baggies that I needed. It was amazing that I left a Target only spending $3 with Christmas at 50%, but it just shows how little they had left!
