Has anyone been able to get a Disney gift card order to go through on target lately? I've tried several times this morning with different amounts and it keeps getting canceled.

Are you trying to pay for Disney gift cards with Target gift cards? If so, since earlier this week target .com began enforcing a policy change that prohibits using gift cards to pay for any portion of an order containing gift cards. Such orders are immediately cancelled. If you're hoping to stack discounted Target gift cards with the REDcard 5% discount to pay for Disney gift cards, that method is now dead.

Thank you. Yes, that is what I was trying to do. It was a good ride while it lasted.

You can still use Target gift cards (physical or loaded onto the Target app) to purchase third-party gift cards in store, but you cannot stack discounts with the REDcard. You'll receive the REDcard 5% discount only on the amount actually charged onto the REDcard.

Great. I had been planning on buying Disney gift cards this way for my upcoming trip. Ugh.

Ugh. So now I need to figure out what to spend my Target gift cards on that isn't Disney GC. Boo.

You can still convert them over in store. It works just fine, even at self-checkout. I paid for some Disney GC with Target GC in store yesterday and nothing prevents it in their system.

Unfortunately I don't live near a Target, so unless I drive near one soon I am limited to online purchases.

PHEW! Glad to hear this! I have a nice chunk of money set aside in a points program through work and have been saving it. Will need to do this ASAP so that they don't bounce these too!

That is unfortunate :( I hope you have the unexpected opportunity to travel near one soon so you can convert them over.

If you have a substantial dollar amount of gift cards, it might make sense to take a day trip, or even an overnight trip, to somewhere with several Targets.

I have a feeling that they might close this method as well at some point. But if they don't, I might use it as well. 5-7% is better than nothing.

sigh. was working for me last week and now it was cancelled immediately.

did they start printing/posting the new policy :(?

In stores, this is not new policy. You were never able to use your REDcard like a 5% off coupon and pay with a gift card and get the discount on the entire purchase.

It has always been you can use a gift card toward the purchase of almost anything, including third party gift cards (but not Visa, MasterCard, Amex prepaid cards), have the gift card apply to the purchase price, and if you use the REDcard to cover any amount over the balance of the gift card, then you get the 5% off only that amount charged to the REDcard. This is still the policy at my local stores and I've seen no signs notifying of any change.

The change is to target .com, which now has the disclaimer that you cannot use a Target GiftCard to purchase gift cards. Any order containing a gift card paid for in any part with a Target gift card will return cancelled within minutes.
