Tarek and Christina seperate

So I guess the rumor is that Tarek came home, and saw a contractor laying some "pipe" down for his wife Christina.

To summarize they do the same thing to every single house they flip. All white kitchens, gray laminate floors and subway tile on everything in the house.

And the little nook (where you can put your shower products) that goes into EVERY master bath shower. >:(

I put those cubbies in every shower in our house and TWO in the master shower, along with two corner shelves. I love them. But no subway tiles.

Well, all HGTV shows ARE fake, but yeah, there seemed to be something off with those two. Granted I only saw about 5 or 6 episodes, but something about their relationship just struck me as odd.

And I never did like the actual show. DW insists the shows don't always follow the scenario below, that sometimes there are flops, but every one I saw follows almost the exact same script.

Buy house at auction for 350k.
Plan on 100k on renovations.
Halfway thru discover major problem that increases costs by another 50 to 75k.
Worry about recouping costs because comps in the neighborhood sell for 25k less than what they spent.
Take a chance and price house 100k more than comps.
First person to walk in offers 50k more than asking price.

Someone from another website I'm on write this but it entirely sums up flip or flop. I wish I could take credit for this:

Two married real estate agents/house flippers with a reality show

This is how every episode goes
Tarek "hey I found a house in Yorba Linda. It's a 500k site unseen but comps have sold for 750"

Christina "that's a high asking price" as she flashes her arm dripping in diamonds and perfect manicure and fake lashes

Tarek "ok I bought it. We can probably put $20 into it and sell it"

Enter izzy the contractor "no tarek this is gonna be 180 grand provided we don't find any other problems"

Tarek "oh man"

Christina :eye roll:

Izzy "we found mold."

Tarek"sigh. Ok fix it"

Christina "it needs a pool. And an outside kitchen. And new pavers. And an outdoor claw foot tub"

Tarek " well I hate to say it but if you want top dollar in this neighborhood you gotta do it"

House sells for 750. They show you what the profit is. They never tell you about real estate fees attorney fees and other expenses

Credits roll.

They missed something about 'subway tiles' -- always have to have subway tiles. :p

To summarize they do the same thing to every single house they flip. All white kitchens, gray laminate floors and subway tile on everything in the house.

So, so true! I am hoping that the split will finally get HGTV to drop this show and give another show a chance.

AND I wish that HGTV would stop the marathon nights every night episode after episode of the same show and switch things up.
