whats the tap water like in orlando?
anyone even try it, the town we are from its pretty good (can almost see through it:lmao: ).. so we drink it,
but i dont want to take any chances. Should we get a case in our grocery
delivery?

We have pretty good water where we're from too. Dh and I always bring a case of bottled water with us. The tap water tastes horrible. We didn't take any water on our first trip since we didn't know any better, but we have every year since.

We got a case delivered from Garden Grocer and brought a few bottles in to the park each day. We then refilled at water fountains throughout Disney Parks.

I won't say the fountain water was bad- we drank it but it did taste different than bottled water- not as fresh- kind of musty tasting if you ask me. But we were hot and thirsty and it definitley refreshed.

I can't speak to Disney water in particular, but when I lived in Tampa Bay a few years ago we drank the tap water regularly, but didn't like it. We're from New England where the water is always cold and usually fresh, and in Florida it never really got cold and it had a funky flavor.

I don't recall how long, if at all, it took us to get used the different water. I'd say if you have a sensitive stomach, you might be better off with bottled. But if you are pretty resilient, and won't be too bent out of shape if it takes a day or two for your body to "adjust" then stick with the free stuff from the faucet!

I find the tap water icky. So I bring an empty water bottle and use crystal light packets to flavor the water. Taste much better that way.

The water is very musty tasting but I find it decent when I bring in cold brew tea packets. (you will find the restaurants will give you ice water and you can find sweetner with the condiments or bring your own)

if your getting a grocery delivery anyway then add on a case of water. Everyone gets used to the water where they live and Orlando's is YUCK!
Nothing we did helped the taste of the water- try making coffee with it-the worst I ever tried to drink...

My DD gets an upset stomach from 'different' water so we usually get a 12pk of bottled and a couple of gallons also for refilling.

MK and many of the hotels have a high sulfur content in the water. If anyone in your family has sufur allergies it is best to use botteld water--we learned the hard way after DD broke out and we needed to get her allergy under control--now no fountain drinks and no tap water for her at any MK resorts or MK.

If this is not an issue then use the water. I drink tap water at home, but get bottled in FL.

I have read that most of Floridas drinking water comes from underground wells, as opposed to fresh water lakes like where I live, and contains a lot of sulphur. I can definitely smell and taste the sulphur, so we get a case of bottled water for the parks and coffee.

We've found that the tap water at WDW has improved remarkably over the years. I remember 20 years ago when you hated to even shower in it because you would smell the stuff all day. We just got back from BCV a few days ago and had no problem with any kind of smell. We drank tap water the entire trip.

How do they process fountain drinks there? DB used to work for Coke and carbonated water was delivered to restaurants along with the syrups for funtain drinks. Is there something different at WDW? My youngest has all sorts of allergen issues...:confused3

My husband worked for coca cola for 12 years. I just asked him. He said in a restaurant (permanent location) the syrup is "tapped" into the water lines. The carbonation comes from the CO2 tanks which is a gas that gives it a fizz.

Now if you are renting a fountain server with the carbonated water, then yes you will not have it tapped into the water lines.

I think @ DW because of cost they would have it the permanent way.

Also, you must think of the ice.

Thanks!

So, other than bottled water, anyone have any ideas what else I can order? We're not really ice people anyway, but I would like to avoid the water.

You can always ask for lemons in your water, so it tastes better. You can order juice if you're trying to avoid their water.

We usually have plenty of bottled water for convenience but also use tap water for coffee & ice when we are there.

I don't think the Orlando water tastes bad in a glass of ice....... but this may just be me......

I have to avoid the water & the ice so that leaves bottle water. But that what I drink at home. When I get a fountain drink I order it without ice.

Thanks!

you think the CS would have bottled cokes? I know at the some snack places you can get 20oz drinks. I hope you find something.

I do know the restaurants filter their water so that helps. But Orlando tap water to me is very swampy. Florida in general has a very high water table so the groundwater tends to be a bit brackish and very mineraly tasting.

Our whole family has drank tap water in Orlando throughout two trips now with no complaints. We carry a jug of ice water with us that is made from the tap in our condo. It could be that our tapwater from home has a similar taste so maybe we don't notice it, I don't know.
