Tankinis for "real" women

Slimsuits by Carol Wior. They have the most support for the 'girls" as well as the rest of the 'fluffiness".

I'm a size 18, and I just bought a whole bunch of suits from the JCPenney catalog. They're great! And they were on sale too.

Another vote for a Land's End Tankini! I have one and I'm a size 14 also!!

This was the first time I ever tried a two piece bathing suit...even in my skinny days I only wore one pieces. Well I love it! The top never rides up at all!

Thats when I got all of mine and I am a 16.
Love tankinis with skirts!!

Lands' End faille tankinis. You can buy the top and bottom independantly for perfect fit.

That was going to my suggestion. I have two of them..both with the square necked top and the halter strap. One in black, one in an olive green. I just bought one of the skirted bottoms to go with the black one this year. Sometimes I just don't feel like shaving, so this covers me up. But, I prefer the higher cut bottoms.
I have had the black one for about 4 years now, the green one for two. I don't swim everyday though.

Yeah i agree Lands End, if that is to pricey for you go to Target and buy any tankini that gives you nice support up top (it is usually the skimpy bottom on the cheaper ones that is the problem) and then put a plain swim skirt or swim shorts over the bottom. I have built a wardrobe of swim suits with these separates. I can wear my white or black swim mini over any bathing suit and feel good about myself.

Ebay!I ask very detailed questions about the suits BEFORE bidding and don't buy from buyers with less than 99% rating. I've got one lands end, one slimming tankini suit (the tankini skirt has slits on either side), and another tankini w/ no skirt. I'm super picky about shipping methods as well. Good luck!

I purchased one from Target last year. I was great!!

I'm planning to get a few more at the end of the summer. After hearing all the great things about Lands End, I'll have to give them a try.

Unfortunately shipping to Iceland tends to be really pricy, especially when the tax is added onto both the cost of the item as well as the cost of shipping.

Great Thread!

I can't believe how many have 'well behaved ladies' in a tankini! ;)

I've been considering buying a tankini now that I've lost 40 lbs. I tried some on at Filenes but the were still too expensive. over $100!

I checked out Landsend and they look great but not on sale. I wonder if they ever have a bathing suit sale? :confused3

So anyway, I'm still on the hunt for a great size 16 Tankini/skirtini.

Landsend IS having a swimsuit sale right now. Go to the website. I saw several tankinis on sale. Good luck :)
I hate swimsuit buying :(

After reading this thread yesterday I knew I better get started looking for a new swimsuite. (Cruise in 20 days) I went on-line to check with Lands End and had several suits ready to purchase. I then thought I would run over to the local Sears just to see if I could luck up and find them here locally. No luck :confused3

But I then visited Dillards all their suits were on sale...went through picked out about twenty suits going for many styles and sizes...long story short I found two new suits that I love. I can't ever remember finding a suit I loved more like...OK this one will do.

To OP thanks for getting me motivated and keep looking, there are suits out there that look great, even if you don't wear a size 2.
