Tangaroa Terrace @ Poly

Tangaroa Terrace is actually a place in DL, not WDW.

Tangaroa Terrace was a restaurant at the Poly many years ago and one that we really enjoyed. A lot of the time since then the building has remained empty but it may have been used for other things as well. If you go to the Disney website and open the map of Poly you will see it is in between Rarotongo and Pago Pago as well as part of the building where Lilo's Playhouse is located. You have to zoom in to the map to have the names show up.

That might be a nice place for a high-rise DVC building. Say 10 stories high? Beautiful view of the MK. Add a covered walkway connection to the GCH for the monorail and shops?

I would think that would stick out like a sore thumb going that high as the highest building now is only 3 up, correct?

Yes, the tallest long house is 3 stories. If you look at the roofline of the Poly, the GCH is much taller. Still not 10 stories tall, but taller than the long houses.

I think it could easily be themed to fit in. The view from the lake could be made to look like a gradual rise as though it were sitting on the side of a mountain as the actual Polynesian Islands look.

Once they push back the parking lot...that is likely to be the fate of that space.

Aluani showed that Disney can do a pretty nice high rise that would be fairly appropriate for the area.

IF they wound up building new DVC @ Poly as OKWLover said above (I know there's no word on if this will even happen, but if it does) will there be a wait list to buy into that? We wouldn't want to buy just to be at any resort-it would have to be for whatever new building they're building - if it turns out they're in fact building new DVC.

Oh my gosh, I don't even know if this will EVER happen, but the thought of them adding on more DVC units in this building is super exciting! Especially if they added one bedroom units! As a Poly owner, this just made my day

There's never a waitlist to buy into new DVC. The question would be is if this were to be DVC, would it be part of the same association that the current Poly DVC is, or would it be separate? In other words, would it be like Animal Kingdom, where you have rights at both Jambo and Kidani or would it be like the new Wilderness Lodge stuff where it's two totally separate entities?

DVC doesn't do waitlists for new resorts. I believe they are restricted by FL timeshare laws from doing that.
