I posted this on the resort thread, but thought I would post it here too! Tikiman's page on FB states "what is coming to Tangaroa Terrace". Admittedly I know very little about the Poly property and wondering where this is and whatever Tikiman is referring to, will it possibly affect our stay when we go in September?

Steve or Tikiman says no to food but possibly another phase of construction which could very well mean more DVC coming to the resort. He says he can't say more at this time.

thank you for that info! Is Tangaroa a large building? What is it close or closest to? Wondering if its something that will take time to get approvals, file permits, etc. before they can do anything. Been looking forward to our Poly trip for months now and daughter has sensitivity to noise (plus an allergy to dust), so hoping like mad that this doesn't affect our relaxing pool days or stay.

It is attached to the banquet facility so if they add that into it yes, it is a large space. They would have to file permits so we would find out when work would begin but it doesn't sound like it will be soon.

thank you so much! guess ill just keep my fingers crossed, hope for the best and keep an eye on any new news. :)

@rteetz sorry one more quick question - every map i look at nothing shows "Tangaroa Terrace". Someone on the other thread said its where Lilo's Playhouse is (or was) - not sure that's still around either as my search isn't helping much there either). Where is this building? The maps I found show two buildings which dont have names -- a smaller building and a larger building (to the right of Hawaii), so I'm sure its one of those - just not sure which.

I don't have access to some places at work, but basically this is a defunct banquet area/activity space. I'm not sure necessarily that it's large enough to build more DVC units on, but maybe large enough to add a DVC community center since there isn't one at the property. If you google "Tangaroa Terrace Polynesian" you should see pics of the building.

I have googled it and come up with nothing as to which building it is -- just lots of images of the plate with the name and some front views of the building, but not being familiar with the Poly at all other than when we take the monorail in and go to Ohana or Kona. http://search.aol.com/aol/image?q=Tangaroa Terrace Polynesian&s_it=searchtabs&v_t=keyword_rollover

Well, I'm sure I can find an old map, but if you do, it's where the NeverLand Club was housed and perhaps some old maps have that wording.

It's basically an abandoned arcade/laundry/housekeeping building that only has a small part used for lilos playhouse...or whatever it's called.

It's kinda odd that it sits there...as it's right in plain view. Remember: those buildings were built in 1970 in an entirely different world...
Disney's first hotels...things have changed drastically...but to leave it kinda defunct this long never made sense.

Holy moly I just saw rteetz map and not sure how old that map is, but how much the Poly has changed is mind blowing when trying to compare the old to the new.

Honestly...even though things have been replaced 3x over...things haven't changed that much at all.

The main difference is the price...and the monorail functioned properly then;)

Showing my age, I believe I played video games in there as a kid, circa 1983 or 84. Cutting edges things like Ms Pac Man, dig dug and whacka mole.

That might be a nice place for a high-rise DVC building. Say 10 stories high? Beautiful view of the MK. Add a covered walkway connection to the GCH for the monorail and shops?

I was trying to match up new names with old names, plus Hawaii totally threw me off facing the wrong direction. Then of course the addition of the DVC buildings. LOL @ monorail.
