I can get a pretty good rate from National car rental, but the Tampa airport lists them as "offsite/shuttle". Just looking for experiences from anyone using National at Tampa and how the shuttle service was?

I have used the shuttle and didn't wait more than 5 minutes and the ride is probably less than 5 minutes to the National area to pickup car. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in Tampa.

We used the shuttle for Alamo. Same thing and it was great. Shuttle was waiting and we were at the kiosk very quickly. Dropoff was just as easy. Planning on using it again with the whole family (including 3 kids and more luggage.)

I was just there two weeks ago. National and Alamo are together and all went fine. There were plenty of signs directing us to the correct door to catch the shuttle. The shuttle pulled up as we walked out of baggage claim. We were at the rental facility in no time.

It is a little hard to find and my GPS would not recognize the exact address, so pay attention as you leave so you can find your way back.

Have a great trip. FYI, if you have Emerald Club, their selection was pretty nice. I am Executive and was able grab a mini-van.

That's great to know! Yes we have Emerald Club....I love being able to pick off the aisle!

Like I said, we chose from Executive, BUT, I did glance at the EA and there were two Mitsubishi Eclipse CONVERTABLES on there! If it was just DW and I, we would have been all over one of those!

As someone else has said, GPS might not recognize the address, so make sure you know how to get to National when you go to drop off the car. We had no idea where to go, called the number on the receipt and talked to someone who also had no idea how to get to National. The shuttle area is also not marked well at baggage claim - go to your right as you are facing the doors to go out. They were in the process of doing some renovations in November and it was not clear where to go. We did wait a while for the shuttle - would have been much easier to use one of the on-site car rental places but the rate we got with National was too good to pass up. Take a map from National (that shows where they are located) when you pick up the car and you should be fine.

On a positive note we picked a minivan with 9 miles on it!!

We have a luxury reservation from National at Tampa for our April trip. :cool1:
Has anybody noticed what they have on the Luxury Aisle, other than Cadillacs? :confused3
Also, I'm not a member of Emerald Aisle, Do I have to pay extra for my wife to drive? Can I join Emerald aisle and have her drive for free? :laundy:
Good Luck All,
Joe
