I wasn't sure where to post this thread, but was wondering how long it takes from WDW to Tampa to see a Devil Ray's game. We've been to Clearwater Beach before & that took a little over an hour & a half. Is the stadium anywhere near Route 4? Thanks for any info!! Cathie:bounce:

Cathie,

We went to Tropicana Field to see the Yankees play the Devil Rays two years ago while we were staying at WDW. It took about an hour and 20 minutes to get to the stadium, which is in St. Petersburg, not Tampa. You take I-4 westbound to its end where it becomes I-275 and drive over the LONG bridge from Tampa to St. Pete. (I'm a bridge chicken.) Stay south on I-275.
I've pulled out a map I bought of St. Pete for the trip and it looks like it's exit 9 off I-275 for Tropicana Field. You'll want to double check me on that one though.

All in all, not a bad trip to get there. I had never been to a domed stadium before. It was kind of nice to sit in 72 degree comfort while it was about 100 degrees outside! Who are the
D-Rays playing while you're in Orlando?

Have fun at the game.

Cathie,

They must have changed the exit numbers on I-275, (as they have on I-4 and FL I-95). I just went to the Devil Rays website and their directions say that you take Exit 22 off I-275 south for Tropicana Field.

By the way, if you're interested in any other info, the D-Rays website is:

http://tampabay.devilrays.mlb.com

Hope this helps.

Thanks Figment22 ( I love Figment too!). We'll be staying @ All Star Sports the 1st week of August & I think the Devil Rays will be playing the Blue Jays ...my 15 yr. old was hoping for a game with Red Sox, but the Blue Jays are somewhat close to home. I think it's an afternoon game & we've never been to an enclosed stadium, just Fenway in Boston. The kids & guys are really looking forward to the game. We are also taking a friend with us who is handicapped & uses a large power wheelchair. Do you know anything about the wheelchair section (should we call ahead of time?) Thanks for the info!! I'm sorry but I really don't know anything about handicapped seating at Trop Field. I would check their website in the Trop Field and/or ticketing section to see where disabled access would be. I wish I could offer more help but I don't remember seeing the sections with wheelchairs. I would definitely call ahead to find out. Good luck and have fun:D
