Anybody live in Ruskin or Riverview Florida? I live close enough to know where they are, but nothing else.
Can you tell me anything about either city? :confused3
Considering a move and don't know anybody there to give me info.

I can't tell you much about Ruskin, but Riverview is fine. There is plenty of good, affordable housing and shopping for groceries, etc and I feel overall it is a nice safe area. Riverview is right next to Brandon and is close to Tampa.

I work in downtown Tampa and many of my coworkers live in Riverview. I actually live a few minutes further east in Lithia, and I really like this area overall.

Let me know specifically what information you need and I will try to help you out.

I'm following this too as we are moving down from NY asap - was need to focus mainly on the best high schools as oldest is starting 9th grade in Fall. Had Plant HS at top of list until I took a gander at the housing prices of South Tampa :scared1: Now am looking at Palm Harbor University High borders - so I'll be reading to learn about this area too! One more place to research! TIA!

i know a tiny bit about riverview and set up an appointment with a realtor monday morning. he suggested ruskin as the houses are a little cheaper/bigger. i need a minimum of 4 bedrooms.the houses in in riverview were only around 15-1600sq feet. in ruskin a 4br was more like 2000sq feet for the same price.
one person told me that ruskin is all tomato fields and migrant workers. :confused3 not so much a family area i would be looking for.

Honestly, I would focus on Riverview over Ruskin. Ruskin is an agricultural area and I am not sure what there is there in the way of housing. I like some of Apollo Beach, but it is expensive.

There are several nice housing developments in Riverview that have nice houses in your size range that are very reasonably priced. Panther Trace is a newer developmenet that you might want to see. I do not know where you will be working, but I wouldn't rule outBoyette Springs (slightly older, but still nice) or even Fishhawk Ranch which are a few minutes more east.

ok, so i went to ruskin yesterday.......all i can say is ewww
the 4 developments we were in were very nice. and the houses were beautiful. but ruskin is just gross! it is old, dirty, and run-down, with ABSOLUTELY nothing but fields (produce and palms) and very old run-down houses and businesses (not many. just auto parts stores, laundromats and 1 grocery store), and then nice neighborhoods plopped down in the middle of nowhere. i guess if you never left your house (or block) you'd be fine.

Kit'sMommy - do you know anything about the schools in Riverview?

No, sorry, but I do not know anything. The Lithia public schools are supposed to be really good, but my child is in private school.

MizTink - Did you look in Riverview? I would still strongly encourage looking around Boyette Springs or Fishhawk if the commute would work for you.

yeah, i'm really wanting to go to riverview. i just either have to settle with a smaller house, or talk my ex husband (who's buying the house) into a little more money.....;)
