We have to fly into the tampa airport and I was wondering if anyone has any experience/comments in using the DCL transportation from the Tampa airport. We usually use the Orlando airport so this will be different for us.

Thanks!

I believe tampa is 1.5 to 2.0 hrs away from MCO but I'm not certain about the distance between tampa and port canaveral.

I should clarify we are doing the land/sea and we will be going from the Tampa airport to the hotel first.

Thanks .

I see...

Definitely over an hour of travel time if not more. A car service will most likely take you, but it'll be pricey. Any specific reason for tampa and not MCO (Orlando)? You could probably by another plane ticket for the price of the car ride. One thing is for certain that Tampa isn't close to Disney at all.

I just found on DCL's web-site it says:

"For Guests who purchase the Disney Cruise Vacations Air Program, ground and baggage transfers are included in your vacation package to and from the Walt Disney World® Resort (if 7-Night Land and Sea Vacation has been purchased), Port Canaveral and a Central Florida airport"

Not sure what the definition of Central Florida airport is, but maybe it includes Tampa....

Tampa airport (TPA) isn't far from WDW, about 1 1/2 hours without traffic. Disney does not offer transport from there however. Your best bet would be either a one way rental or a car service.

Thanks everyone. We had to use Tampa because we are using frequent flier miles and in order to get flights that matched our dates of travel we had to come into Tampa instead of Orlando. A longer drive to WDW but worth it not to have to pay for plane tickets. Our TA said we should be able to use DCL transfers from Tampa but I wanted to make sure they were as reliable as using them from Orlando.

JFYI, When I tried to get DCL to take me to TPA instead of MCO, they told me they couldn't do that. Now this was just from the 8/28 cruise & I was originally booked to fly out of MCO, but had to change my flight due to Hurrican Frances. They absolutely refused to get us to TPA, so if I were you I would find out ASAP if they offer any kind of transport to/from TPA. I will fly in & out of TPA due to pricing & also because my DH's aunt lives in Clearwater. The ride is any where from 1 to 1 1/2 hours. It is a straight run & goes by very quickly. We always rent a car when we go to WDW as I prefer to have my own transportation. Look into the different rental companies & see who will give you the best deal, IMO you can't beat having a car at your disposal. Good luck, Kathy :wave2:

My DH also has an aunt who lives in Clearwater and we usually plan a visit to her to coincide with our DCL cruises....

We fly into Tampa and rent a car for two days and then head to the Port to drop off the rental. We then do another rental from the port to MCO and fly back to NY. We are actually doing this in two weeks as we sail on the Magic on 9/25. We used Budget at Tampa and for a midsize it cost us $68.93 for a two day rental with drop off at the Port. And $30.67 for a one-way from the port to MCO on our return.

I have sailed DCL 10 times and never, ever heard of them providing transfers from Tampa.....call DCL directly or have your TA call them as I do not think they offer this.
