Jim - 39, no longer a massage virgin
Tammi - 40, knows how to enjoy herself
Scene 3 - Relaxing, relaxing and while were at it, how about some more relaxing
Sunday morning arrived and the weather forecast was for another beautiful day with a high of 82. Once again, I was up before 8am and after a quick shower, I went down to the concierge lounge to enjoy a light breakfast and the newspaper. It was definitely clearing out and nearly all the tables were available. DH joined me and wanted to know what the plans were for today. I basically had to give him a questionnaire before going on this vacation, because otherwise he would offer no help or suggestions what so ever. After 20 years of marriage and numerous trips to Disney, I did know what he liked and didnt like, so planning wasnt really that hard. I told him that this morning was the spa and he asked me what I was going to have done. I informed him that I was going to have a facial and he was going to have a massage, surprise! The looks on his face ranged from horror to quizzical. He had never had a massage and for the next 20 minutes I was bombarded by questions. What should he wear? Would she see him naked? How could I allow anyone else to touch his body? He felt a little bit better after I took him through step by step and assured him that he would feel comfortable. We made our way over to the spa building and he went his way while I went mine. For 10am, the womens lounge was very crowded and there was a slight awkwardness, as they had to allow a plumber in to fix one of the sinks in the bathroom. Im not a modest person by nature, but there were a few women who seemed to be very uncomfortable. My name was soon called, so off I went to the treatment room. Ive had many spa treatments, but I honestly find a facial to be the most relaxing. After 50 minutes, my face was glowing and soft as a babys you know what. I waited on the front porch for my husband to emerge. Within minutes he was literally bouncing out the door. It ended up being the best present Ive ever given him and he continued to talk about it for the rest of the day.
It was nearing noontime and we were both starting to get hungry, so we decided to get the car and drive over to Boardwalk for some shopping and lunch. We had already been valet parked at the Grand Floridian, so we could use that service at any of the other resorts and only pay the tip. We went through a few shops and DH was so excited to find a Dory pin. Shes one of his favorites and it ended up being a great find, because we never saw the pin again during our stay. He also found a Dopey pin that he liked. His lanyard was starting to fill up, but mine was still empty. We decided to check out the ESPN Club for lunch. I was surprised to see that there were still many tables available in the lounge even though it was the wildcard weekend. We had a great time and ended up staying there for close to 3 hours. We debated on going into Epcot or MGM, but I knew that DH was looking for a nap, so we went back to the GF instead. Jim grabbed his spa things when we got back and headed down for a sauna and steam. I checked out the lounge offerings and had a nice relaxing afternoon tea. I stopped in at the Mercantile and finally got some pins for myself. They now have these beautiful cameo style pins with some of the princesss on them. I found a green one with Tinkerbelle. They also had a birthday pin and anniversary pin. Im not a trader, I just enjoy buying pins that mean something to me. Armed with a fully stocked lanyard, I decided to hop onto the monorail and go back into the Magic Kingdom. This is the first time that Ive been completely alone and I must say that I did enjoy myself. I stopped and saw things that I typically wouldnt even with being there just with my husband. A word of warning though, if you are traveling alone, dont wear your guest of honor badge. For those of you not familiar with these, they are basically name tags with Mickey on them. I dont think they resemble cast member badges in any way, but I cant tell you how many times I was stopped and asked about parade routes, fireworks schedule and the nearest bathroom. It did get me thinking about an early retirement though and a future Disney job. On the way back to the GF, I opted for the boat ride again. It was lovely and gave me some time to think. Here we were celebrating our 20th anniversary and Jim was probably sleeping in the sauna while I had strolled through the MK by myself. I came to the conclusion that this is the reason why weve been happily married for so long and I know well be together forever. Yes there are times when you compromise and do something you dont want to because youre other half enjoys it. But if there are also instances when you can be comfortable letting go of each other for a little while, well thats the magic.
This evening we had dinner reservations at Narcoossees. This was a big dilemma for me. I wanted something special, but were really not the Victoria & Albert type. In the past weve done the California Grill and Jikos, both of which were fantastic, but it had been years since we ate at Narcoossees. I thought that something overlooking the water would be nice. Jim and I finally hook up at the room and dress for dinner. Right before we leave, theres a knock on the door from room service. She brings in a bottle of champagne on ice, glasses and a beautiful red rose, all compliments of the Grand Floridian. Another wonderful surprise. We decided to open it later this evening and went down to dinner. We waited only about 5 minutes for our table and it was overlooking the water, but there was a slight problem. The table behind us consisted of parents and their two children. The parents were chatting, drinking wine and paying absolutely no attention to their kids, who had pushed their chairs up against mine and were playing a game of lets climb over as many as we can, which included the one that I was sitting next to. My husband didnt even have to raise his hand, the host saw what was going on and immediately came over with an offer to move us. Transported to the other side of the restaurant we settled in with a bottle of Merlot and had a wonderful meal of filet mignon. It was served over red mashed potatoes, assorted vegetables and a mushroom sauce. The electric water pageant was going by just as we were drinking our coffee. We made it back to the concierge lounge just in time to grab some evening desserts and brought them back to our room to enjoy with the champagne. We fell asleep again watching the castle change colors.
Tomorrow we are off to Epcot and maybe Mission Space.
