*Yup, Poll Coming*
I've thought for a while that I might be the tallest woman on the DIS boards. But who knows unless you ask.
So here's your chance to be crowned the tallest female DIS board member and maybe get a few things out that drive you nuts or happy about being tall and a woman.
I'm using the Eligibility Requirements that most of the tall clubs set out. Women must be at least 5'10" to be considered tall.
As far as negative things - Being called BIG instead of tall. Words hurt and I am quite well proportioned to my height ... 6' 1"/176 pounds.
Having people talk about my height well within hearing range like I'm deaf and can't hear them. Well OK, I'm tall and my aren't you observant.
Parents who think that little Johnny or Janey is so cute when they scream oh mommy, look at that giant lady. I taught my kids early on that was not acceptable!
Positive things would include:
Having short people ask me to get grocery items on the top shelves. And they're always so thankful.
Children who seem to equate being tall with being someone they can talk to. And, yes, I have been glad to have chats with many of them. I found this phenomenon especially on the buses at WDW.
A whole bus load of people and children would pick me out and strike up conversation.
I should add that growing up in the 50's and 60's was hard. There weren't many tall females then and finding clothes that really fit was difficult to nearly impossible. My grandmother must have had a terrible time though. She was 6 feet tall and that was around the turn of the century!

Me, too. I'm just a teeny tiny 5'7"! For once, I'm too short for something. Gotta love that.
hey ~ all my life I've been tall and now come to find out at 5'9" I'm not tall enough to be considered tall!

First I'm discriminated against and now you have the nerve to call me SHORT!?!?!!?
Don't make me come over there and stand on a chair so I can get in your face!
That's a heck of a lot better than calling someone SHORT. I won't mention any names *COUGH* (Virgo10). Ahem, sorry something in my throat.
