Our original plan was to go in Feb. 2015 and when we mentioned it to my parents, they decided to come too. Well, our savings plan is working way better than anticipated and instead of needing till January to save up, we'll be fully funded by the end of September.
Last week we decided to move up our trip to December, but my parents decided there was no way they could take a week off during the Christmas season. They said they were perfectly fine with us changing it, but I've been struggling with it because I know they were really looking forward to a trip with the grandchildren.
Yesterday I was chatting with my dad about our plans and he expressed disappointment that they couldn't come and experience the Candlelight Processional (in particular) with us. We were planning to stay longer than them anyway (10 days for us, 7 for them), so I looked at our plans and figured out how to make a long weekend that would avoid missing too much work (Mom is a music teacher and has a play the following week) or any rehearsals (Dad is the choir director at our church). I checked for hotel availability, and there was, so I asked them to discuss it and get back to my right away if there was even a chance they would go. They decided to have me book it! It means adding 2 days to our own trip, which means upping our budget some, but we shouldn't have a problem with it. And my parents will get to enjoy time with the grandkids (but not long enough to drive them totally nuts) as well as Christmas activities at WDW.
They may still decide to cancel, but I'm so excited they are considering it!
