I guess I am years behind on my thinking... I thought it was only for Disneyland Hotel guests but I hear people mention that you can take it from DTD in the park and vice versa? Can someone explain all the ways this can be used? We are not staying at a resort hotel, but will be park hopping and surely spending some time in DTD.

Thanks!

Monorail is a ride like any other in the Park.
You can ride from TL station to DTD or you can ride it back to TL station.
If you get on at DTD you must get off at TL station.
Only round trip is from TL station to TL station.
The DTD station used to be called the DL Hotel station
This attraction is for anyone with Disney entry media.
You do not need to be a guest of any of the DL resort Hotels to use it.
Many times we will ride from TL station to DTD to get a meal or check out the DLR hotels.

There is a station that is across the way from the GCH in DTD. It does not ahve a big flashy entrance. You go up the stairs or elevator to get on. If you look up you will see the tracks

After the monorail exits the GCH it makes a turn to the right to start the loop back into Disneyland Park.
At that right hand turn at the very far end of DTD (nearest to DL Hotel, since it used to be the DL hotel station)
you will go up stairs and find the station...

I might also add that you can get on at the DTD station and use that as your first point of entry into the park. There is a security table there and the turnstile for your ticket. If you hit it right, it can be faster to get to TL going from here. But if you missed the train and have to wait for the next, sometimes it is faster to just walk on down and go in the front gate.

We rode it out of the park one hot afternoon from TL back to DTD. The line was a long wait to get on the monorail. If we'd known it would be that long of a wait, we probably just would have walked out the front gate.

The station is located kinda in the middle of DTD and I think it was near the movie theater, the Lego store and a booth that sells pins.

The DTD station is next to the RFC and the pin store. And yes, most times the trip is round trip from TL to TL but sometimes they make you get off and reboard both directions. We rode in the front and in the back on our last trip, that was really fun. I suggest trying to get in the front and back and riding again somewhere in the middle for comparison reasons. :)

Just want to mention that if you have a stroller, make sure it can fold up. They made us fold our stroller the time we took it from DTD to Tomorrowland. (same goes for the train, incidentally.)

On magic mornings does the monorail take you in to the park early to? Or is only the front gate open during MM?

Thanks!

Yes, but it is usually faster to go through the gates, since the monarail isn't necessarily on time for park openings.
