Specifically October 8-13 - Monday thru Saturday. It's the second full week in October. Columbus Day is Monday the 8th and some Utah Schools have Fall Break starting the 11th (Thurs.).

What can I expect crowd-wise? Any idea about the Halloween Party? It is probably the best time for us to go since our DS15 will only miss 3 days of school because of the break.

I haven't been during October in about 6 years and it was my very first time there as an adult and with a family. AND I hadn't found the DIS, yet. :scared1:

Also, the 8th is Canadian thanksgiving, so we generally send lots of people at that time.

The Halloween party may be on Monday rather than Tuesday.

It overall has medium crowds, though due to the season a few large crowds will be found. Halloween party evenings and at the parties. At Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galzaxy they have longer than normal lines.

In my opinion, it is very, very busy crowd wise, and I think the October crowds grow larger each passing year. Disney really promotes Halloween and it is a very festive, fun time to visit with all the decorations, etc. We have been two times during October as Arizona schools have Fall Break during that timeframe as well. We were able to do all we wanted and utilized FP each day so it was definitely manageable --- especially since we were at the turnstiles well before opening each day.

The other factor that hit us hard on our last Fall Break visit was the heat. It was in the 90's and very, very hot. On our last day there, I had to call it quits at noon and hit the pool with our older DD. DH and younger DD kept on going at DCA and they could not believe how hot it was on their little adventure. So, the heat can be a factor in October also.

I think you will really love the decorations and will have a magical trip, but it's probably going to be a bit more crowded than you'd like....

The Halloween season at the DLR has become very popular, we have a thread dedicated to everything Halloween at DLR, heres a link.

Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort Information & Photo Superthread

Thanks, I've browsed the SuperThread. I was hoping for 2011 hours and schedule instead of 2010.

It may not be the least crowded time to go, but it fits in our schedule. We are staying across the street, got the retro rate at HoJo.

Good to know about Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day - always on the 2nd Monday in October. :thumbsup2 What kind of school holidays go along with it??

If you go to touringplans.com you can search you the 2011 opening/closing times. Select Disneyland: Crowd Calender and on the left hand side of the webpage you'll have the ability to select the date you want to check.

Thanks! I used to have a link for laughingplace.com for previous years, but I can't find it anymore.

I apologize for not changing the "2010" to "2011" in the Superthread. The good thing is, the hours were almost the same. In fact, most of the info there can be used for any Halloween season, which is why it has remained up there

When you click on that link I have on Page 1 of the Superthread and it brings up the 2010 hours, all we have to do is go up to the address bar and change the "0" at the end to a "1" and it brings up 2011:

Our family went to DL for Halloween in 2007 and again in 2011.

2007 was WONDERFUL, great weather, low crowds, even on Halloween day. We were there for 5 days in 2007, our last park day was Nov. 1.

2011 was very different. The weather was so HOT, our first day was 101 degrees! We went the week before Halloween because I had "thought" the crowds would be lower during the week before the holiday. (Boy was I wrong!) Both parks were pretty busy during the length of our 7 day trip. The mornings were the best. As everyone says, it is a very good idea to be there when the park(s) open. We were able to go through Fantasyland and do everything twice in an hour.

I really love the Halloween decor and the costumes the characters wear are adorable. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful trip.

Thanks SherryE, I checked out the 2011 hours. That really helped. And they are essentially the same. :goodvibes

Oh, you're very welcome. In fact, I'm glad you posted the question about hours, etc. because it reminded me to go into both my Halloween thread and my Christmas thread and add in the links to the schedules for 2011 - which I had intended to do last year but between my own computer issues and trouble getting onto the DIS in general, I set the plan on the back burner for a while!

We are going 10/14 - 19. me, my DH and my father (65) for his first trip. We have been several times in the fall but usually not till nov. Utah schools and az schools are out from appx october 8 -15th. not all at same time. so lets hope for the best
