Talk to me about Labor Day Week

I want to hear from others who have been to US/IOA during Labor Day Week.
We will be there from Sat to Thursday, with Monday being Labor Day. My
50th Birthday happens to fall on Labor Day this year. This will be our first foray into Universal. We have two kiddos, ages 9 and 11.
We have been to WDW 4 times and LOVE it, but we are ready for something different. So out of the loop we were, we did not even know anything about the HP park until we were making our reservations.
We are staying onsite at the Portofino Bay Resort.
So any info on crowds etc. this week or any other trips for Univirgins is greatly appreciated.
We have a 3 day park to park pass as well as tickets to Sea World.
Any day you think we should hit SW instead of the Parks. Will Sunday be les crowded than Monday, or will it matter. Should we put off WWOHP until Tuesday??

Like all holiday weekends the local parks will be very busy. It wouldn't be a bad idea to wait and see WWoHP on that Tuesday since lots of people will have gone home. It will be busy no matter where you go so just take things in stride.

I'm curious about crowds at Universal that week as well. We plan on visiting on Tuesday the 7th. Wonder if it's necessary to spend the $20 per person to buy the express pass?

Wait until you arrive and see what the lines are like before you decide to purchase. You probably won't need them that week.

Thanks, I was thinking of that but then got hung up on the "there's only a certain number of express passes available each day"!
