Is it really good? Worth the 2 meal credits?

Is it kid-friendly? (We have a 3 year old who's well behaved, but I saw a couple of reviews on it that said it wasn't very 'kid friendly")

Do they have a kid's menu?

What's your fave thing to get there?

About the dress code... would we be too underdressed in shorts/polo for DH and sundress with coverup for me? I can't imagine wearing pants and/or sports jacket in AUGUST!!

Best meal of our last trip, hands down!

They have a kids menu, and even some neat items for the small fry. We took an early ressie, as is our custom, and we were tucked at the far end of the restaurant. Saw other children, was not at all uncomfortable having DS with us.

Everything we ate was amazing. I can't wait to go back and have the potato wrapped snapper again!

We have eaten at FF several times with young children. I think that the first time, our DDs were 2 and 4. They have always been very accomodating to the children, and they kids always find something that they like on the kids' menu.

Flying Fish is a favorite of ours but I don't think any of the signatures, with th exception of the lobster at Narcoosees, is worth 2 credits on the dining plan. Our last time there last month, I think I saw 2 young diners there. The restaurant has an open kitchen so it's got a bit of a noise level built in.

Your attire will be fine. Just make sure the men are not wearing hats; they ask you to remove them as soon as you walk in the door here.

My favorite dishes here are the tuna tartare, the scallops, the cheese plate.

DH and I almost always wear a polo and shorts to dinner at FF (and the other signatures as well)! You'll fit in fine with a sundress! We really like their crab cake and red snapper.

We loved FF so much on our last trip and our DS8 and dD 6 were begging us to go back again so we cancelled Ohana's and went back1 We did eat at Ohana's another night though. My DD loved the Mickey shaped pasta with cheese sauce. My son got planko breaded fresh sea bass fingers that were baked with steamed vegetables and potatoes. The reason they loved FF though was the dessert. Whits chocolate mickey puzzle. After putting it together they got to paint it with edible paint. It came with a cupcake with gummy worms and oreo cookies.

My DH and I both enjoyed our meal also and the service was great. yes you can wear shorts and a sundresses. i had a sundress on and I think I was the dressiest female in there. Most people looked like they just arrived from the park which is great. i love fitting in a shower if I can.

We ate at FF this past Thanksgiving weekend for our 10th Anniversary without our kids (my sister took the kids to Beaches and Cream and around the Boardwalk while we had our Anniversary dinner).

In my opinion, I would only recommend kids under 7 at a dinner with reservations prior to 6pm, preferably the earlier the better. We had a 6:40pm ADR and I did not see any kids there at the time that we were there. That said, we've stayed at BWV a couple of years ago and saw kids at FF going into the restaurant and eating there (through the windows) in the 5-6 time frame.

We absolutely loved the food and used 2TS credits and thought it was well worth it. I had the steak, which was one of the best steaks I've had in my life. We had leftovers that we took back with us and the kids got to try it the next day for lunch. Now my little girl is dying to try FF, lol.

So, we are taking our kids with us on our next trip in December. We have a 5:45pm ressie and the kids will be 6 and 8 then. I think they will definitely be fine with it that early, but I've toyed with the idea of trying to move it up. Our meal last Nov. took around 2 hours and I just think it might go a little faster for the kids if we are there earlier.

For a 3 year-old, I'd definitely try to get as close to 5pm opening as possible...JMHO

FF is a wonderful restaurant! I can only comment on the food (not the DP or kids question) and it is my overall favourite restaurant in WDW. I think the atmosphere is very festive but upscale and as compared to others I never found it to be too loud. The food is wonderful with a bit of a twist without being overly adventurous.

The Flying Fish is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW. I loved their mussels and tomato/mozzarella salad appetizers. For an entree I always say I'm going to try their potato wrapped snapper, but for some reason always talk myself out it at the last minute and wind up ordering either the scallops or char crusted steak. I know alot of restuarants at WDW have steaks, but that char crusted steak is in a category all it's own. For dessert I love the cheese plate, chocolate trio, or strawberry trio.

FF is one of our favorites too. I don't recall seeing many kids when we were there last year, but we eat later & usually eat at the bar. I think taking kids earlier would be no problem. They'll be more able to handle a leisurely dinner that way. Then you & you DH will be able to enjoy your meal. Disney makes everyplace (except V&A) kid friendly.

We used to take a small bag of toys / coloring books for DS when he was that young and we wanted a relaxing meal.

As far as dress, you'll be perfectly appropriate. That's pretty much our standard dining attire in WDW and we never feel out of place at all.

I always want to try the snapper, but I just can't deviate from the char crusted NY strip! My plan for Oct. is to convince my wife to get the snapper so I can sneak a bite or three, but I'll still get my steak, too.

OP, Flying Fish is probably my favorite restaurant at WDW, and I've eaten there every single trip. We've had nothing but consistently great food and service.

We love the FF! Yes, it is worth 2 credits, especially on the Deluxe DDP. I can recommend the Crab Cake and the Potato-wrapped snapper. I believe there is a lobster salad appetizer available now. As I recall, the wine list is also good.
Not sure about taking children there--if one had a very young baby who might sleep through a meal, the ambient noise level (which seems to gradually increase over dinner) might be a problem for a sleeping baby.

This will be my first time at FF and after reading all the posts I'm
looking forward to eating there. I grew up in RI on Narragansett
Bay so you know I will be evaluating those mussels!!!

My kids have been there 3x and it was on their list of places they REALLY wanted to go for our trip in 4 weeks. There are always kids there and we're usually seated in a family area. My kids love the blue or red sprites they serve and IIRC they have a dessert that involves painting icing on cookies that they love to do.

It's not a fast serving restaurant so I'd recommend being prepared with things for the kids to do. Games, coloring or electronic babysitters all allow DH and I to enjoy our meals at a leisurely pace while the kids stay busy.

I took my 8 yr old daughter there and she enjoyed it very much. She ordered the Steak and the Ceasar salad is AWESOME!

Flying Fish is our favorite. We make it a definate every year, me twice a year when I am down for my girl's trip. Next year we are going to eat there twice as one night DH & I are going to have a date night while DD and her friends swim. The snapper is my favorite and the cheese plate is wonderful
