Talk to me about Concierge on the Magic vs. the Dream/Fantasy

Hi all, We've only sailed concierge on the Dream (2x) and Fantasy (1x). We're looking at a possible Magic cruise and was curious what the main differences are at the concierge level - is there a lounge? sundeck? What amenities does Magic have/not have as compared to the other two ships? Are the rooms similar in size? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thx!

The lounge is definitely different since it was added two decades after the ship was built. When we first sailed Concierge on Magic, there was no lounge so the hosts had to find you around the ship if they wanted to offer you services. The lounge is smaller than the one on the Dream-class, but we prefer it because it has windows, and a direct access to a deck that overlooks the adult pool. There is plenty of shade on the deck, but no whirlpool. Inside the lounge, you'll find the same amenities : snacks, coffee machine and happy hour drinks.

Contrary to the Dream-class ships, the Concierge staterooms are located all over deck 8, so you might have to take a bit of a stroll to reach the lounge. You don't mention what stateroom category you are thinking of. All the rooms have roughly the same size as on the Dream-class ships - the 1BR is 8 square feet smaller on Magic. The verandah room have only a 2 sq ft difference. However, the 1 BR feels larger on Fantasy/Dream because of the layout.

If you are planning on sleeping 4 or 5, know that some 1BR suites on Magic/Wonder have the Pullman bed in the master BR. We do not find that very convenient since the Pullman is much more comfortable than the sofa bed.

Outside of that, the experience is pretty much the same.

Thank you!! That's very helpful.

My biggest complaint about sailing concierge on Magic as opposed to Dream/Fantasy is the Magic concierge rooms are just below the pool deck and I find them to be very noisy. I love the Magic and love the itineraries, so I will still consider sailing on that ship - I just prefer deck 11 on Dream/Fantasy for noise reasons. If noise above your room doesn't bother you, you should be fine.

I agree with this as well.

I think you will enjoy it other than the lounge doesn't not have a view to the outside other than a skylight.

The rooms are conveniently located around the lounge and I find the rooms to be quieter as discussed in the earlier post.

Overall, we have enjoyed concierge services on all four ships and it is the only way we cruise with DCL now. our daughter started cruising at 2 and she is about to turn 9 and she has grown up on disney cruises and with the various concierge hosts. She has 22 cruises under her belt and we are doing a B2B in August on the Wish. She always looks forward to spending time with and catching up with the Hosts that are on board once we get on the ship.

Great memories.

If you look at the deck plans, you’ll notice that while most staterooms are under the family section of the pool deck, the royals and any room with a number higher then them are located under the adult section or the Cove cafe.

We’ve only ever stayed in 8522 and 8022. We’ve never found them to be noisy at all. If you think noise from chairs being dragged might bother you, pick a room under the adult section.

is the concierge lounge on the Magic the same layout as Wonder? I know the Wonder was expanded a few yrs ago, not sure about Magic
we were on Wonder for Alaska 2019, lounge was amazing compared to Fantasy & Dream

It is similar to the Wonder lounge in the main center area. Last time we were on the Magic a number of years ago, the left side and right side wings that are enclosed on the wonder are outside space on the Magic. The right side was the outdoor concierge sundeck and the left side was just part of the public walk way around the funnel on that side.

AFAIK the only 1 BR Suites with the murphy bed outside the main bedroom are 8032, 8034, 8532, and 8534. These also have a longer verandah, but are a new, more expensive, room category, 02A vs 02B. At least this is the case on the Wonder.
