Talk to me about AKV Concierge...

The check in desk is located on the third floor. The concierger lounge is located on the 6th floor.

So Lisa as I look at your photo, was the photo taken from the main floor of the lodge and is it the 4th floor of the lodge? Which would make the lounge on the 6th?

It's not my photo - I found it on allearsnet. It was taken from the main lobby which is the 3rd floor. The lounge is on the 6th floor.

We are planning to stay at AKLV next January ('09). We are doing the 4 night Cruise from New Year's Eve until Jan 4- arriving at WDW on the 4th.
We wanted to do 4 nights at AKL in a 2br, concierge.
What's very important (maybe most important?) to us is the savannah view, and then the access to the lounge (still pretty important, so we can continue that constant access to food from the cruise ). We will not be there to take advantage of the Sunrise Safari, and are not interested in the Sunset Safari.

So... seeing as there are very limited 2br savannah view concierge villas, and those don't appear to have terrific views (and, as I now understand it, are not even guaranteed), should we not do concierge? Just do a 2br savannah?

We do not have AKL points, so we would be at the mercy of the 7 month window. But, since it's right after the holidays- it should be pretty quiet.... right?

I'm torn. Any suggestions or ideas?

We were able to book at exactly the 7-month window for AKV concierge. I booked it 10/02/07 for 4/28/08 thru 5/2/07. I was able to get the concierge studio for all nights except the last night. We are waitlisted for that night, but are booked in a savannah view just in case the waitlist does not come through.

I didn't think I stood much of a chance of getting concierge at 7 months, but I am sure glad I took the chance and asked the question. You just never know when the answer will be "Yes, I can book that for you"

We were originally booked a studio at AKV Concierge from 9-16 Mar 08. On boxing day I called MS an said we would like to come in a day earlier and leave a day later. So, no problem, they had a studio available on the 8th but nothing on the 16th. So we are booked at SSR for the 16th and waitlisted at AKV for the 16th.

All in all, I was ecstatic. I got a studio concierge at just over two months out, and MS was open on Boxing Day - I was surprised. Just goes to show that it never hurts to try...
