I am thinking of going ahead and surprising FDH w/ chaning our ressies to WL Courtyard view. We are staying 5 nights at the Dolphin and then 3 at POFQ. I am never able to surprise him and this would. I am rethinking staying at a moderate, and the WL is not a huge amount greater....totally doable. Will we like it there? He is an avid camper...I am not. But that is OK.... I just want this to be a great surprise for our honeymoon!!!!! OPINIONS PLEASE!!!!!

GO FOR THE WL!!! It's my absolute favorite. Words can't even describe it! Can you say that about the swan/dolphin?! lol

The WL is a wonderful place to stay...we spent our honeymoon there!
It's not at all like camping! It's a beautiful resort that has a Northwest theme. You should check out some of the pics. Maybe someone on the boards has a link to their WL pics.

We stayed at the WI on two occassions and love it. Northwest theme was great but it is all up to individual taste and budget. WI included the AP rates so it was less expensive than the Swan or Dolphin. The Dolphin has a great location that's convenient to Epcot and MGM abd the Boardwalk....tough call! Good Luck!

I love WL. I say go for it. If you're wanting camping, WL is not the place for it, though. If you really want more of a "camping" environment, FW has cabins.

WL and Poly are in sort of a tie for my favorite Disney resort. Poly for its transportations options, and WL for just about everything else, including the MK boat!

I changed it!!!1 Staying 3 nights at WL court yard view and 5 nights at The Dolphin. Couldn't change the Dolphin, got that at $99.00 a night w/ nurses rate!!! I am soooo excited. Already changing carriage ride from POR to FTW as we speak!!!!!!! Any suggestions on making the WL extra special????

We'll be at WL 9/30 to 10/4!

I ordered a birthday cake for my DH from WL's in-room dining. They're placing it in the room the night we check in. YOu could do something like that or go through www.disneyflorist.com and send him a gift basket.

There are all sorts of cozy, romantic nooks around the Lodge, perfect for relaxing and cuddling! Artist Point is wonderful for a romantic dinner (try for a later seating if you want to avoid the majority of kiddos). And dh and I love watching the Water Pageant at night from the beach.

Also, if you like boats at all, you could rent a pontoon boat for the afternoon. Dh and I have even picked up sandwiches at the food court or Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney and taken them out on the boat with us and had a picnic!

Thanks for the advise!!!! I have ordered a wedding cake for dinner at Narcoossees one night and a carriage ride the next. I would love to send a gift basket. I will call, would really like to have something with a bottle of wine and maybe the bride and groom Minnie and Mickey stuffed animals. I am soo excited!!!!! Any ideas on when or how to surprise him????? Should I just tell him when we are driving over to POFQ? I am awful at surprises!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful trip! The Wilderness Lodge is gorgeous; the lobby is grand and intimate, all at the same time. You have to experience it at least once. Sit in the chairs in the lobby that lean back a bit and look up, and take in the view of high ceilings and architectural details. Ahh... We have such great memories of that resort

Hi! I just surprised my DH with the WL trip! He thought we were staying at POR, but I changed it on him without him knowing. Now our trip isn't until next week, but I couldn't hold the surprise in any longer, so here is what I did.

I bought an accordian photo album at Target. I wrote a little story about the upcoming trip and printed it out. I pasted the story into the accordian book and accented it with lots of Disney sticker. The last page was the "reveal" and I practically knocked DH off of his seat!

Other ideas I had included making a short video of myself telling him the news, waiting until we got to the Orlando International and handing him one of our WL refillable mugs and having my DS3 "spill the beans."

You could also get creative and "announce" at your wedding reception - if you're having one. Or be romantic about it and buy a card with a WL type theme and write a letter to him about how you want your honeymoon to be memorable and romantic, so you have a surprise for him.

I have an extra WL magnet if you want, I could mail it to you. PM me if you're interested. It's the kind that you put a photo in so you could put a picture of the two of you in the magnet and say something like, "Imagine us here, at the WL."

Thanks for the advise!! We are leaving tomorrow!!! I ended up sending him an updated version of our ADRs, so I changed POFQ to WL. Lets see if he notices!!! He will be so psyched at work!!! He has been bummed out about not staying there, he also wanted to stay at the GF. But the WL seems so much more romantic. Plus, its all in one buliding. I don't like the blds. at GF, seems so spread out. I am getting so psyched!!!!!! Thanks everyone for advise, support and knowledge!!! I can't wait to come back and give my trip report!!!!!!!

On the 4th and 5th floors above the main entrance to the WL check out the areas with stuffed chairs and couches in front of fireplaces. After a day in the parks grab something to drink and relax in these areas overlooking the lobby. At about 9:35 pm watch the EWP from your courtyard balcony.
