Talk me into WL

We are planning on going in December to see Christmas decorations. We have only stayed in values before, but I'm thinking about WL after seeing all of the great pictures of it decorated for the holidays. I just am having a hard time justifying the cost, since 1 night costs almost as much as 3 nights at POP. We are planning on only being there for 2 nights - MVMCP one night, HS the next day. Come on WL lovers - talk me into it!

Also, is there a moderate resort that all of you recommend for great decorations? Maybe I can find a happy median between a value and deluxe!

While I've never been to WL at Christmas time, I have been to both WL and POP. They are 2 completely different feels of a resort, BUT from what I understand the decorations at WL are fantastic, they may even be the best on site.

WL is such a warm and cozy resort - you can hang out in the lobby, whereas POP doesn't have a lobby. There are the horse carriage rides too. WL just seems more Christmasy to me.

POP is awesome too - so much so that we've add a night at POP prior to our YC stay next month.

My point is both resorts are great - but at Christmas time I'd do WL in a heartbeat.

WL in a heart beat as well. Can't beat the Christmas spirit when you are at the WL. I stayed at the GF & BWI & if I had to place them in order it would be 1. WL 2. BWI & last GF. You will love it.

It is an absolutely gorgeous resort and cant be beat at Christmastime. The decorations and music are wonderful and the boat transportation to the MK makes it a wonderful choice. Go for it--you wont be sorry.

Once you stay at WL, you will never feel the need to justify the cost again!! It is a TOTALLY different place than POP. You feel like you are in another world there. It is the most affordable of all the deluxes (as well as AKL), but I think it is the most beautiful. From the moment you walk into the lobby and look up, you will not regret it! Plus, it is a small resort, so there won't be nearly as many people around as at POP. You can take a boat to the MK or rent a boat on Bay Lake and Seven Seas lagoon. I have never been for the holidays, but that is just an added bonus on the already beautiful resort!! DO IT!

I say go for it and stay at WL. As the other posters have said, it is really beautiful and you will feel like you're in another world there. It is the perfect resort for the holidays because it has such a warm and cozy feel to it. The pool is really nice, you can view the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach, it's a short boat ride to MK and you can grab a cup of hot cocoa from Roaring Forks and sit in a rocking chair by the fireplace.

It is one of the cheaper of the deluxes and since you have a short stay, you will feel less guilty spending the extra money now as opposed to if you were staying a full week. To me, this is the perfect trip for you to splurge. We love POP too but it's a whole different experience at WL. You won't regret it.

Just a suggestion. If you want to stay here in December, get cracking with the reservations. This is a popular resort and it's also one of the smaller resorts. It books very fast especially during the holidays.

Thanks for the replies - you all are mighty persuasive!

I guess one of the reservations I have about it is that we will only be there such a short time. I feel like maybe it would be best saved for another trip when we can explore and truly enjoy it! But then I see the decorations and ooohh - I would love to be there during that time! If we stay there instead of POP, MVMCP may be out of the picture due to budgeting constraints. In that case we would probably do a day at MK, since we will most likely have FL Res SP. We have at least 2 more short trips planned to WDW prior to December. Aaahhh -decisions! Would you all give up MVMCP to stay at WL and go to MK instead?

Sorry to ramble...I will definitely bring it up to DH and pull up the thread with the pics of WL in it's full holiday glory!

WL at Christmas time is AWESOME . It is a beautiful resort any time of year, but once the Christmas decorations are up, the resort is AMAZING . We have stayed at the WL twice (never stayed there during Christmas time, but have visited at that time) and we LOVE it there . We are booked for our third stay this December.....solely for the Christmas decorations . As far as whether or not it's worth the extra money....I'd DEFINITELY say YES!!!!! You can't go wrong with the WL at Christmas time. Plus you have convenient boat service to and from MVMCP . You'll have a great trip no matter where you decide to stay because just being in Disney during the holidays is magical .....but I would really consider the WL for your stay

Now you add you want to do the Christmas Party <joking> If this is your first time doing the party you might want to do that & take the boat over to the WL to check out the decorations. It is a hard choice to make I know. The tickets are quite costly for us it will be $211.56 for 4 adults. But if the party doesn't matter then I would go for the WL Good luck !

As everyone knows WL is gorgeous with holiday decorations - warm, cozy, easy access to MK - we had rsservations there last December but switched to the Poly as we're not crazy about the small WL rooms or room decor. WL and AKL rooms are only 4 sq ft larger than CBR!

But strange as it may seem, we really like the POP decorations too! POP does have a lobby, just not one like WL. The Christmas decorations are bright, cheerful and kind of old fashioned in a homey way.

The Lobby tree is pretty, and the decorations in the food court and shop are cute. The windows you see when at the bus stop are great, and when you
arrive at the resort the Poinsettia are beautiful.

Although a deluxe certainly does cost more (and you can put the money to other good uses) it often feels like you're there a bit longer because it's so pretty and relaxing.

I am sure it will be wonderful no matter which resort you choose. The suggestion to visit WL the day you attend MVMCP is a good one too - maybe you could use some of the money saved to eat there before the Party?

p.s. Although not a fan of CSR, the Christmas decorations are incredible.

Have you checked prices at the Dolphin? If eligible for any discounts, that lobby is wonderful during the holidays too.
