so, i love all of the roller coasters disney has to offer, and everest is my favorite ride. rock n roller coaster is a close second, but i don't like HUGE roller coasters like the ones universal and six flags offer.

i really, really want to like the tower of terror. the theming is absolutely incredible, and so far none of the disney thrill rides have disappointed or overwhelmed me, but i can't get past the initial fear of the thing. but... at the same time... i know if i never did it in my life, i'd regret it.

so please tell me your favorite parts, and convince me i should ride it!!

DO IT!

You know you want to.

Several years ago when my mom was 75, she went on ToT and loved it! She is now 81 and in May I am taking her again, and she can't wait to go on it! (I am 61 and love it!)

I have ridden it 4 0r 5 times in a row. It is so much fun. Like most rides, it doesn't last that long, so if you hate it, it is only a few minutes out of your life. But most people love it. Best ride ever! Go for it!

I love ToT because it gives me 'the rush' of a coaster without the motion sickness. The view is incredible when the window opens and pauses for a moment. If you like coasters, you will love 'the rush' and the 'thrill'. The drop (the stomach drop) is like dropping on a dip of a coaster. Go on with someone you know (and you can sit beside them). We always ask for front row, just to get the best view out the window. If you ride it once and like it, you can ride it over and over because it's never the same 'pattern' twice :goodvibes Such a great 'Disney' theme- even the CM's get into their role as bell hops at the ToT. They play their characters well to set the atmosphere. I say 'go for it' :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Really not bad my kids aren't even scared by it and my youngest was 3 when she rode it the first time, there complaints are the drop and not knowing when it is and making their tummy feel funny! Every time before a trip they say they won't do it but they do and love it!:confused3

I hate that ride. I hate to drop.

And yet I can't tell you how many times I've been on it between CA and DHS! It's a must do in our family. Over and over and...

As the slogan goes...JUST DO IT!!

Seriously!

You won't regret it.

I avoided it for 5 trips! I finally did it solo last fall (I was in a phase of refusing to give in to fear). That first ride was all eyes glued shut and hanging on for dear life. The second, third and fourth ones were much more fun. If you like other thrill rides, then TOT will likely be fun for you too.

The most fun was when the car dropped then rose back up and went back down without really stopping. It gave a really cool floating feeling.

So, my advice is to suck it up buttercup and take the plunge! Odds are you'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner!

The worst part of the whole thing is the anticipation of the first time. Once you have ridden the ride once you will probably slap you forehead and say "What was I thinking, let's go again." It really is an awesome ride, that is why it is always mobbed.

The best part of the ride after you have ridden it once is listening to the reaction of the riders who had no clue as to what was about to happen. And the screams are priceless.

That is probably my favorite ride in HS. Star tours is awful close, though.

Best ride ever was last summer. I wound up as a solo rider in front of a high school tour group on a just opened elevator. The bell-hop looked at me, looked at the gaggle of giggling school girls, and said "I won't make you suffer with them." And put me on an elevator BY MY SELF!! That was the most fun I've ever had. I love the ride photo of me and an empty car. I just tell people that everyone else got sucked into The Twilight Zone. Lol

Part of me really wants to ride the ToT next trip. Question--do people ever throw up during or right after ToT? For some reason I am so scared of getting sick on a ride. The only time I felt a little sick last trip was at the start of Soarin, but then I didn't ride any coasters/rides wilder than BTM, 7DMT, or Test Track. I guess I might have felt a little bad on the Tea Cups ride the 2nd time when the kids really tried to make it go fast.

I put off ToT for 2 Disney visits and before last years visit my husband said he would physically drag or carry me on it. I hate thrill rides, especially DROPS! I was a sweaty mess when we were in line but could definitely appreciate the awesome theming! But I'll tell you what.........I'll NEVER ride it again!!!! It was everything I expected! (I mean of course! The ride is one big drop!). It was absolutely worth trying once, but never again for this Tame Disney Ride lover!
Side note: every person I know says it's in their top 3 favorite Disney World rides!:thumbsup2

My favorite part is when my butt flies off the seat! Don't be scared. It's fun! :)

My son and I HATE drops...we had done all the coasters at WDW, but every year we would try to talk ourselves into doing ToT and then chicken out. This past trip we FINALLY followed through!

It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I can't say that we loved it...but it's so dark after the window opens and closes that you can't even tell how many times or how far you are being pulled down (they aren't really drops). I would ride it again if someone asked me to (my son wouldn't), but I won't make a beeline for it the next time I go. We were awfully proud of ourselves though, for overcoming our fear!!

Here's a tip: If you usually purchase a ride photo, ask to sit in the front row...most people don't care whether their hands and arms get in the way of your shot. Alternately, if you like putting your hands up as you fall (to get a bigger rush), ask for the back row...so you don't ruin someone else's photo!

DD and I love it! Especially cool just around sunset. Colors across the park and the (quick) views while you are going up and down are awesome!

My favorite ride in all of WDW! I have rode it 3 times in a row when the lines were short with no affects. I love getting the back row so that I can hold my arms up and get more air time! I don't like to do it in the 1st or 2nd row because it will block someone from the picture. A friend and I were just talking yesterday that we miss the lap bar they used to have instead of the seat belt, you got more airtime, especially if someone big was in the row.

My wife absolutely hates it. She went on it with me once is DCA, and has vowed never to ride it again (she was under the impression that the ride consisted of cool theming, and a *single* large drop:rotfl2:). We have booked a FP+ for it, but I'll be doing that one by myself.

On the flip side, my 7 year old nephew loves it, and has since he was 3 or 4 years old.

The first few times I went to WDW after it opened I would stare up at it, listen to the screams coming from it, and as much as part of me wanted to try it I just couldn't get up enough nerve. Finally about 5 years ago I did - and it's now by far my absolute favorite ride of all :)

And last August I finally rode without gripping the handles for dear life;)

Do it! It's one of my favorites. Funny thing is I actually stopped riding it for the last few trips because I got too scared. :rolleyes2 But this trip we just took in January I finally got back on it. So glad I did! It's such a great thrill! I think I actually get more scared of the spooky theme than the drops. :scared:

I would say do it at least one time just to see if you like it. I had avoided it for four or five trips, until my son finally talked me into trying it. We rode it at night, and ended up being the only people in our elevator, which was pretty scary in itself! :scared1: I wish I could say that I loved it and can't wait to do it again, but honestly, I was terrified and screamed the entire time! The ride photo that was taken was the most hilarious thing, all of us look completely terrified. All that being said, I am glad I did it, and might do it again when we go this summer..maybe......

A friend and I were just talking yesterday that we miss the lap bar they used to have instead of the seat belt, you got more airtime, especially if someone big was in the row.

That was the problem with the lap bar, though -- if someone big was in the row it did absolutely nothing to hold skinny people and children in the seats. I love me some air time, but I've heard enough "I was genuinely afraid for my/my child's life" stories to be glad they put in the seat belts.

So there's that for reassurance: you won't literally go flying out of your seat these days. ::yes::

I was too afraid to go on it the first time I went to WDW, and my friend finally talked me into it the second time. The part that freaked me out was that I didn't know the car moves out of the first elevator shaft and into a second drop shaft, so when it drove forward I about had a panic attack. I did not sign up for the elevator to go sideways!!

Once I went, I was hooked. It's my #1 ride at WDW. I actually find it much less frightening and gut-wrenching than the drop towers you see at other amusement parks (the kind where they just haul you to the top out in broad daylight and let you go). It's scary being in the dark and not knowing whether you're going to go up or down, sure, but I think it's also just disorienting enough to not be as scary as a drop where you can see the ground.
