Talk me into door magnets

I suspect teens in groups. Hall running, elevator riding, and sitting in stairwells. At least not crimes other than possibly magnet removal. And still, very rare.
Unfortunately, we encountered a particularly troublesome group a couple sailings ago. Lots of of magnets stolen (from reports in our cruise group), and we encountered an inappropriate drawing on the wall near one of the elevator banks. :sad2:

But I thought Disney was always watching you. Why don't they do something about things like this?

This is an industry-wide response to many “bad behaviors” of guests. They are willing to let rules and social taboos slide to keep the offending guests happy.

Like the no saving sun loungers, only to have them claimed but unused.

I think it is fear of the bullies and their response (because you can’t predict what their minds will do. While the vast majority play nicely.

Magnets were one of my surprises for my family on our first cruise in 2015.We’ve used them ever since. For my hubby and I’s 20th, I added a veil and top hat to the Mickeys. Definitely fab to identify the door.

I have an etsy store with magnets and other things, lots of people don't do them so it's not necessary if you don't want to.
Even if you have them personalized with years etc you can still reuse them on future cruises to show where you've been, or pop them on the fridge at home.

I’ll be making magnets for our 2 doors. I know for a fact that I will not be able to use my grandsons first or last names, but I’ll just want to know quickly/easily which doors are ours.

I order them off Etsy. They’re fun! I don’t reuse them but I do keep up the last cruise’s magnets at home as a fun reminder of our last Disney cruise. Go for it! Disney cruises are so unique - jump on in and enjoy all the magic!

We don’t use the Etsy kind, the only flat kind we use is the Minnie set that we got on our very first cruise (it’s her ears that go over the round stateroom door), instead we buy magnets from all the places we have visited to decorate our door.

We have gotten a few “We love this door! From Stateroom XXXXX” so I think people like it! :)

We also have some magnets that have springs attached to them, so they wiggle. We love them. We have a stingray, a crab, a couple of squids that all have a wiggle effect.

We also choose a room next to the elevators, so lots of people get to see our door. We love it.

We also enjoy decorating our door with magnets. We make a new magnet for each cruise we go on (ship, date, room number, anything special about the cruise) and add it to the collection. I also created a custom magnet that plays some music when you press a button. We can also swap out the face of it and the music, so most days it shows our family name and all of the ship names and rotates through audio of the ships' horns, but on pirate night it's pirate themed and plays Pirates of the Caribbean music.

So cool!

Also, the cabin walls are magnetic so you COULD decorate parts of your cabin. Little kids seem to like this possibility of artistic expression.

If you don't have a desire to put up magnets, then don't bother. I estimate about 1/2 the doors don't have magnets. We do it because we think its fun. We don't do Fish Extenders or other group stuff planned in cruise internet groups because it's just not us. But magnets, that fits this mid 60's couple traveling with no kids.

We rarely order magnets specialized for one cruise. We use them over and over.

I get the "too cool for school" age. I went through it, my daughter went through it, and we're preparing for our DGD 10 to go through it. It's a good thing the kids have their charming moments too or nobody would live through it. But, you know, if you bring magnets they'll heavily sigh and roll their eyes. If you don't bring them, you'll be so totally lame bc you didn't bring magnets and "everyone else" has them. So, do what YOU want because you can't win with the tweens.

Do it but don’t be sad if stolen. We’ve started putting them on the inside of our door due to historic theft.
