Talk me down. 5 days out and I'm getting overwhelmingly twitterpaited

My people! Thanks for the responses.

I think alot of it, is we haven't told our 7yr old yet. He has never been to WDW... and everytime he sees the disney commercials, he gets a little sad, he wants to go so bad. We keep telling him in a year or two, that we're saving or money as it's a very expensive trip. His little face about breaks my heart. (our 14yr old knows all about it) So yes, we're telling him that morning, before we fly out. I can't wait to tell him.

Take a video! That's a priceless moment.

I used to get like that for our annual Disney trip, before we moved to Florida.... :cool1:

I know what you mean! Maybe I can make you feel a little better by telling you how I handled things last year:

We went in September, but had told the kids we were leaving in October. So...with 5 kids, I have to start packing WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY in advance...like 2 months in advance. They couldn't figure out why I started 3 months in advance though! I had to fib my way through everything. The day before we left, we were going to drive to Columbus early for our flight. Columbus is two hours away. I had to get my dog to my in-laws somehow, and they live an hour away in the opposite direction.

My son is OBSESSED with our dog, so he questioned me for a full week as to why the dog was going to have to stay overnight to get shots. It was the only way I could get the dog out of my house a day early (I thought). I told him the dog was getting a kennel cough shot and had to stay overnight for observation. He didn't believe me. I had to get my mom and brother involved, and they had to say their dogs were going in as well and would be staying overnight. Turns out my husband had the day off, so he was able to take the dog to my in-laws.

My kids are homeschooled, so I couldn't hide anything from them as far as packing and planning went, so I had to be VERY sneaky. We had a scavenger hunt for them to figure out what exciting family event we were having that day! We fibbed our way through that one as well b/c they kept asking if it had to do with Disney. I told them it absolutely did not have anything to do with Disney, so they just accepted that we were having a special family night beginning with the scavenger hunt. While they were outside (in the pouring rain) looking for the second half of the clues, my husband was inside changing out our countdown calendars to show the change in date.

They unscrambled all of the letters they found, which said to meet in the dining room and figure out what was different. My son said: "It's clean." Punk. Anyway, they finally figured it out and the house exploded with laughter and tears and excitement! Then we had to go surprise my niece and nephew at their mother's house, which was 1/2 an hour away, get back home, finish packing, let everyone sleep a little, then head to Columbus. I almost had a heart attack when we got there b/c I couldn't find my license. Worst minute ever. 12 people had to get through security, and finally...we were on our way.

Add to all that craziness that I wasn't able to do any prep walking b/c I had found out a month prior that I have to have both my hips replaced and a minor back surgery to correct a 16 year issue, and you have what I like to call "Mommy's going crazy from stress syndrome." By day 4 at Disney I had my "Disney legs" back though.

So basically I was a complete nutbar about 3 days out from our trip. Praise the Lord it all went down perfectly with only a bit of suspicion from my 16 year old son.

In essence...you are not alone sweetie. We're all a little crazy. :crazy2:

This thread is much better suited for the Doing the Happy Dance! board. :)

This is what I was thinking!!!

I'm 75 days out and already getting the luggage out!
We have sorted through DD costumes, and have them hung up in dress bag ready to go in the suitcase...

At the 60days early check in I start putting this in the suitcases!!!

I would be freaking out if I only had 5 days and didn't have my luggage ready to go...

lol We leave March 25 & I'm already 75% packed:lmao:

Haha! We leave April 19th, and this trip is just hubby and I, so I don't have the excuse of NEEDING to pack 2 months out. I just want to do it. My frustration (mind you, it isn't a bad thing) is that I don't know what size I will be when we leave. I am losing weight and could lose another size by then. I think some of my shirts may already be too big. The only reason it is frustrating is that I like being prepared. Oh well! Can't complain too much!!! I'll go to Disney naked if I have to. It will certainly thin the crowds some.

That's awesome! Congrats on your weight loss!!!!

80 days out, and with adult children, I only have to pack for me. No hurry right? I've already started packing... I know I will have to repack a dozen times, and take about half of the stuff out before I go, but it helps pass the time. Enjoy your trip!

That's why I pack so far out! I start with tons of stuff and thin it out over the next two months.
