By the way you get the best deals on the cruisesalmost as good as resale
We bought GCV on the cruise for 87.00 a point so i dont think the price was too high![]()
papamouse1 said:NO, that would be a GREAT price! Depending on when you got it, even GCV has steadily increased in price, to the point now you would be lucky to get it at that price on the USED market, and you won't touch it direct from Disney. I am going to go out on a limb here, and say beyond a shadow of a doubt, I think that GF and Poly DVC points will both be the highest ever opening prices. Since Bay Lake is sitting at like $155 from Disney right now, it would not be impossible for GF or Poly to push the 200 bubble. I don't think they will top it, but they could get close.
I guess the other thing for me to consider is that I will be 68 when my BWV contract expires and 87 when my BLT contract expires. I think I'll be around for BWV, but don't think I'll outlive my BLT. GF would just be later. I know you can deed a DVC contract to children in a Will, but I would just assume buy them one or their own if they wanted and I could afford it.
When we bought on the cruise they offered a three night cruise or at 87.00 dollars a point we took the 87.00 after crunching numbers it was a better deal than the free 3 night cruise

After years of debating and repairing our credit we just became members. 150 @ VWL via Disney direct. We had heard about it more times than we can count and every time we are near by we stop in to hear about new options. The clincher was this last week when my wife stayed at AKV Kidani. We rented some points for her to stay in a standard studio (@ $8/pt from a friend of ours) and she called me just gushing over it, the experience, and how great they were to her since it was her birthday. I told her to swing by the on-site office, hear the song and dance, and see if she can get a perk for her time. Instead we got our points and became members. Potato - potahto.
I cancelled our DDCC group ressie and put down $500. When I get the money back from Disney I'll finish it up and be done. YAY!
This is a 2 part post, however, as I just found our that we qualified for the Disney rewards visa card too. How can I maximize my points while paying for DVC/MF and how do the rewards points work?
Congrats on the VWL points. I really like that resort, especially travelling over the water bridge to WDW. As for the Disney Visa card, DW and I both have it and use it to buy gas for the cars and other big purchase items (dance tickets for the family). I guess we could get more points if we used it for everything. You get 1% of purchases and Disney Reward Dollars, and you can transfer them to the Disney Rewards Card to use at the Disney store, WDW, etc whenever you want to. They expire after so many years.
I'm not sure about the financing thru Disney, if they will let you use your credit card or if you must provide a checking account. I pay my MF once a year and don't remember if I used my credit card or not.
We save up our points and use them to pay for tickets at WDW.
So we just bought our first dvc contract from disney for 100 points at BLT. It's a smaller contract but I think it will work for us. I am looking to add a second smaller contract at BCV with the though being we can alternate using 200 points at BLT one year and 100 Points at BC. Either that or we could do 1 longer and 1 short trip every year.
I think I've found a good deal on a small BCV contract but it doesn't have the same use year. Should I pass this contract up in the hopes of finding one with the same use year?
We debated that for a while, but when a 100 point BWV opened with a different UY, we jumped on it. It is a little more difficult to manage because you have different member #s and different banking windows. But, it really didn't matter as much because when you have different resorts points, you really can't transfer them and combine them anyway at an 11 month window. So, we treat them as different contracts and use one for Spring Break and one for Fall Break. Plus, since they are a June and September UY, I have every month covered for a vacation and no end of UY or Holding Points worry. When you use the online booking, it treats them as seperate memberships, but you still just log on with your one email account.
Thanks for the tip. I wound up waiting too long and the contract was already sold.
It looks like I need at least 160 points to get a week at most RCI resorts, so I am thinking about buying a larger resale contract. While we really like BC I think I'll probably buy into SSR, because the annual fees are lower, the ppt is lower and we can use it longer. It's also nice to be able to walk to downtown disney.
Man oh man. It's been a while since I checked the resale listings, but those prices look like they're falling fast. If I ditch the 401k for one lousy year, I'd have more than enough.![]()
tempting?
