So I am sitting out on my deck yesterday afternoon minding my own darn business. Watching all the birds going to the new feeder we had just put up a few weeks ago. Watching the chipmunks, squirells and rabbits play. Looking into the woods to see if the wild turkey's are up and roaming, etc. I was just sitting there enjoying our big beautiful backyard looking at the wonderful woods that surrounds us!

It was so peacful and quite. Then I start to hear some noise coming from the woods. I thought oh it must be some of the animals in the woods, but there was one problem, the sound did not sound like that of animals etc. It also lasted to long. So I called my mom and told her that something was not right in the woods around my house! These woods have always scared my Mom, I told her Mom I think there is someone in the woods.

Oh my Gosh, I took closer from the deck and could see a man! I said Mom there is a man in the woods. I look again and he is swinging a machetti around.... :scared1: :scared1: :scared:

Mom said well go over there and look and see what he wants! I asked her if she was nuts! :sad2: She thougt I was joking, she then realized that I was not. So I go in the house, and I could see this man from my sliding glass window, waving this huge knife, and one point he started to come out of the woods, but turned around and went back in. I was home alone, so I decide that Mom is right, i should call 911.

So I call and give them my info, and tell the lady that I see a man in the woods from my home with a Machetti! The police came out and sure enough they went into the woods and came out with a man with a big machetti.

Turns out the man was a surveyor, and his partner was deep into the woods as well. They had came in from the other end of the woods. I felt so bad for this man for calling the police on him. He laughed, and then he told me that he thought that I knew. I asked knew what? That all that woods had been sold to a developer and they would be taking out the woods, and put up homes! :guilty: I said no one informed us, he also thought that I knew that they would be in the woods doing this work.

I was so upset over finding out that my beloved woods are going to be gone, and all my wood buddies will loose their home. He did tell me that he thinks they might leave a buffer of trees there! :) I told the man I was so sorry for calling the police on him, he said it has not been the first time. Poor guy!

:scared1: Scary and funny too! :lmao:

Sorry that you had the "beegeebers" scared outta you though.

Glad the guy had a sense of humor about the whole thing.

I probably would have called too....I mean come on, a man with a "heep beeg" knife in the woods! What was he thinking! LOL

You think you had enough excitment lately? Poor little woodland critters where are they going to now. Glad it wasn't a real nut.

I was seeing a slasher movie in the making. Thank you for the :lmao: .

Sorry your woods are going.

Wow, what a story! I'm sorry to hear about the woods... i'm sure it wasn't LOL at the time but it sure is now!!! I could just see it, a horror movie in the making. And your mom telling you to go out there and ask him what he wanted.... OMG!

Another story: years ago, my DH and I were staying at his friend's lake house. We were awakened in the middle of the night by noises outside of our bedroom window. It sounded like someone was rustling through the brush.

Then, we heard a snort and we both started laughing. A deer had gotten into the yard and was sniffing around for something to eat.

It scared us, though.

:scared1: Definitely a hair-raising experience. Oh my gosh, I would have been scared too.

I'm sorry you are losing your woods. I live near a green belt that runs into wilderness. My DS came home a few minutes after he left this a.m. He saw a bear and 2 cubs on the trail. I drove him to school.

Glad that guy had a sense of humor too. Sorry you will be losing your forest of trees.
It is amazing though to watch how they remove the trees. They use these huge crane type tractors that pluck those trees out of the ground like they were toothpicks!

Glad that you called and relieved that it turned out to be nothing to worry about. Don't second guess yourself. You did the right thing. :)

I would have been scared too! :lmao:

Now both you and machetti man will have a good story to tell.

:scared1: Oh my gosh...I would have been so scared, probably peed my britches. You sure did the right thing by calling the police. But your poor woods so sorry about that. Shirley
