Talk about murphy's law-pregnant with 18 days to go

I agree with those who say that only your wife will be in a position to know whether the trip will work out or not. I went to WDW when I was 7 months pregnant, and had a great trip. My DS (2.5yo at the time) and I were pretty much in the same boat - we had to eat regularly so we didn't get cranky, avoided the "big" rides, took things easy, and needed a nap every afternoon. It was wonderful!

Now, if you'd suggested a trip earlier in my pregnancy, that would have been horrible. I had fairly significant morning sickness (now there's an expression only a MAN could invent) 24 hours a day for the first 4 months or so. To me, hurling my way through WDW just wouldn't have been a vacation.

I was pregnant and very morning sick at disney, I was very grateful to the cms who keep the bathrooms so clean! lol :rotfl2:

Maybe plan a special afternoon for her to get a massage at the spa while daddy plays at the pool with the kids.

Just to let you know, Disney won't let you get a massage if you're pregnant. Last time we went I was 6 weeks pregnant and they told me I couldn't get a massage (ended up getting a facial instead) because of the liability.

ETA: We went with MIL, FIL, SIL and her family, plus DH's aunt and uncle for a family trip. While I didn't throw up with my morning sickness, I just generally felt unwell the whole day. The car ride was really no fun at all (gas station/restaurant bathrooms, very limited in what foods didn't make me sick and it was hard to find something when I was hungry, etc.). Since it was our first child, I was worried the whole time about harming the baby, so I didn't ride anything except the train around MK. Plus the smells from all the food places really set me off (I could eat some foods, just couldn't stand to smell any foods cooking). Like others have said, I would let your wife make the call, especially since there are two other kids to care for.

I wouldn't cancel either unless she wants it cancelled.

Last summer I was in the same boat as you. We had 2 kids & we were done, our Disney vacation was booked & planned in Feb 2005 for July 2005.

Out of the blue, I became pregnant late June/early July 2005 & was about 1-2 months along.

I can not even fathom going to WDW this year with my now almost 6 month old.

I can wait another year or two but I am glad I went last summer.

I would let your wife decide. Only she knows her limits.

Has her morning sickness already started? If I read your ticker right you leave in 17 days. Is it possible her sickness won't start till after.

With both of my pregnancies my morining/all day sickness hit me about a week and a half after I found out I was pregnant. It hit me like a wall and I pretty much couldn't do anything. I felt like dying even while lying perfectly still. I don't think I would have been able to do Disney World. However, if I had had it already planned there would be nothing to stop me from going. ;) Even if I had to be wheeled around. LOL

You never now though, I have friends who had horrible sickness with one pregnancy and then felt perfectly fine during another. Maybe she'll be lucky.

I say go for it!!! As long as your DW is still willing to go. Like some others have said every pregnancy is different. Talk to her dr about meds for morning sickness to help if she needs it!!!

Congrats on the pregnancy and have a great time!!! I wish I was preggers with #3. Dh and I have decided to be happy with our two and be finished. Hmmmm Maybe I SHOULD start planning another trip!!

:)

Hi, L&D nurse here, how sick does your wife get, does she end up in and out of the hospital for hyperemesis or is it mostly nausea and some vomiting. I think you have to go with what she thinks as she is your wife, but she might enjoy resting at the hotel or pool some days when she is not well if you are up to taking the kids. If you have a cell phone that would really help so she could call you and meet you if she were feeling better. I do agree with some posters that she can be sick anywhere, it is just whether it would bother her more to be there instead of home. Zofran ODT is probably the mentioned drug that dissolved in ones mouth. It works very well and does not have the sleepy side effects that phenergan does. It is a much more expensive drug however. Vitamin B6 and unisom were also mentioned. Please though talk to your doctor they may have better suggestions specific to your wife. Many find that frequent small meals helps, that the nausea is worse when the stomache is empty, unlike the flu. Best of luck to you. I suppose you could consider change of dates until she is past this part too. Best Wishes, and maybe she will not get sick this time, sometimes you get sicker with one gender to another, and all pregnancies are different.

I had a surprise number 3 as well....And he is the best! He's 4 now!

My last two trips to Disney.......I wound up getting prego before both! I went anyway!

I did puke on the plane! Also, I puked in the doorway going into the lobby of The Boardwalk!!!! I puked near Cosmic Ray's!!!!! That sucked! But overall I'm happy I still went! We have a trip planned for May....my husband better stay 10 feet away!

UPDATE

We decided to go. DW wants to go and really excited about it. The main issue was morning sickness for us. She is about 5 weeks pregnant we think. The morning sickness did start already, thats how we found out she might be pregnant. She said to me I feel sick and I said what do you feel and she said I feel like I do when I am pregnant. And I said OHH CRAP. and the rest is history.

I think she will be able to enjoy herself, I do take care of the girls a lot so it will not be a problem if she feels unwell, since my girls and I are buddys.

However I can't get excited about the trip, because I know the baby is coming sooner or later. This is a hard hit, I am sorry for the rest of you who have gone thru this and really hope I can get over it and get excited about our "party crasher".

Thanks again and I will keep you updated on the morning sickness issue.

cgb....I didn't realize this was you until yesterday......I hope you all have a great trip, and Mom can enjoy it.

Congrats, btw.

What are the dates you're going to be there again?

Glad you guys decided to go!! I will be thinking about you guys and praying you have a great trip and that your DW isn't feeling to badly.

What will be will be. Enjoy the moment and your family and someday you can tell your little party crasher they were already at Disney World in Mommy's tummy;)

I am sure things will work out. I was worried about our #2 and how things would work out. They just do. Enjoy your gift from God :wizard:

Hi Thanks EQ.

Yep it is me. :scared:

We will arrive at Pop, Sept. 9th and staying until the 17th moving to BCV for last two nights until the 19th.

Glad to hear you decided to go and I hope your DW is able to enjoy the trip without too much sickness.

Sounds like you are a very involved Dad with your daughters. :) That's fantastic! My DH is like that with our sons. Try not to worry too much about what's to happen next year. You've got time to prepare for it. We're over the shock but it is a very different experience expecting this one. Unplanned will not equal unwanted or unloved, but it's just a different experience. DH and I talked about that the other night. Now, with about 7 weeks to go, and at the point where you can see my tummy change shape as he moves, we are both starting to change a bit but it still isn't the same anticipation that was there with the other 2. I don't know if it is because this is #3 and we are just so busy with having a preschooler and a 1st grader that we are more distracted or if it is because this one is crashing the party. We both agree that once DS #3 is HERE and we can hold him in our arms, that's when it will be the same...the love will be there, no doubt! I bet you and your DW have a similar experience. I understand the mixed feelings at the start though.

I hope your family has a great trip!
