A tree fell on my house two years ago. I hired a contractor to handle all the repairs and they used subcontractors. So if I have a problem with work I have to go through them and basically they don't care because the insurance company paid them directly.
When the tree fell it broke my well pump and some parts under ground. They came out to fix it twice (a month after the first time, on the day of our wedding rehearsal, water started shooting up out of the ground...) and they apparently have a warranty for one year. Now the pump isn't working again. One year was up at the end of last summer.
So the guy is on his way, last time this same thing cost $1500... This is the same month we need to pay our property tax ($2000) and we have been cutting back to be able to pay our income tax (we expected a refund and found out we owe $4K instead)
This makes life much less fun. I just purchased our Disney plane tickets yesterday too. (if anyone noticed it's me, they did go back to $100 per person)
