Tale of the Lion King

I’m also going to try to see it this Saturday! Sure hope it’s running or there will be a lot of disappointed people in this thread!

No shows yesterday and now Enchant Keys are blocked out. The August reservations are all basically gone and no shows today either so tomorrow doesn't look good.

This is the second trip this year where I couldn't do one of the main things I flew all the way to Disneyland to do. They didn't even bother having the crafts out.

I saw Tale Of The Lion King on Youtube this morning and I cannot figure out how in the world Disneyland came up with this show. From what I saw of it Tale Of The Lion King looks like a school play and the intro of the show is very weak and what I think they should've done was have audio-animatronic puppets of animals and that would've made the show better. The only impressive thing Tale Of The Lion King has is when the scenes change the backdrops on the stage seem real and moves right along with the show. Another thing is why do they have human actors play the roles of the characters? To me this makes the show odd and Disneyland could've used big puppets of Simba Nala and the other characters and that would've been a lot better and brought the show to life. I did notice that the songs in Tale Of The Lion King are not songs but are medleys of The Lion King songs and after watching several minutes I gave up and watched something else on Youtube. Why Disneyland decided to have a show based on The Lion King is beyond me and they should've put a better show in Fantasyland Theater because The Lion King regained popularity when the live-action version debuted in theaters in 2019 but a Princess show or even they could've brought back Mickey And The Magical Map instead of this show and it would've suited fans better. I guarantee that Tale Of The Lion King will not last a year then it will be replaced by another show by next year

I feel the same way. It doesn’t look like it is geared towards kids at all.

I think the issue is that Disney moved it to a full theater when it's really just an 'outdoor' small show like what it was at DCA. Even previous shows in Fantasyland Theater had far more production value.

It's a knock off of Festival of the Lion King in Hong Kong and Animal Kingdom. They basically axed all the characters, acrobatics, and everything else that makes Festival of the Lion King not terrible and then made it into Tale of the Lion King for DCA. Then, they took this mediocre show and thought it'd be worthy of replacing Magical Map.
