Takout from TS on DDP?

I was wondering if you could get take out meals from Table Service restaurants and pay for them on the DDP?

Sometimes just taking a couple meals back to your hotel room and eating them together on the balcony or the beach is more what I feel like vs sitting for an hour in a restaurant...

sorry, but Disney TS restaurants generally do not accept carryout orders. Only one I know that probably will is the sushi bar at the Polynesian.

Just as an additional note, this is regardless of whether or not you are on the DDP. Even paying OOP the TS restaurants generally (and overwhelmingly) do not do take out orders.

PPs are correct. TS restaurants are not set up to take to go orders.

The only thing you can do is take left overs with you, or sit down and when it is delievered to your table pick around with it and then ask to take it to go, that may work.

Or, since you're at a resort with balconies and a beach - order room service. That IS covered by the DDP, but you need to use two credits per person.

We stay at BLT and have ordered take out from the wave many times..we order at the bar and they pack it all up...we had deluxe dining and could get apps, entree and dessert...we did this quite a bit for lunch..1 of us would go place order and other would go to room put kids in bathing suits then meet at pool. Have lunch swim then go take naps...worked great

Interesting! I've always heard that the TS places are not set up to take take out. But, I guess it depends how busy they are. Good to know!

You will not be able to get carryout from a restaurant in a park. Some guests report some success getting soup from Le Cellier but just as many guests report that they are denied. You will also not be able to get carryout from MOST resort restaurants. The above guest was able to get carryout from the Wave but I don't know if the Wave will ALWAYS fill requests for carryout orders.

I know that Olivia's at OKW used to take carryout orders, but stopped a few years ago.

I don't think you can expect to always be allowed to get carryout from a Disney TS restaurant, even if someone before you managed to get it.

Well I guess it's worth a shot at you home resort at a non peak time anyway. But I won't get my hopes up.

on our next trip. DD LOVES the wok-fried green beans at Y & Y but, although I always enjoy my meal, I've grown tired of going there and have insisted on Boma instead. Actually I insisted last year too but we still ate at Y & Y!!! I'm gonna try & get those green beans "to-go" for her to eat with our CS meal that day. I'll report on my success or failure when we return.

Hijacking to ask-
What about a dessert after your DP meal? If I am stuffed but might want it later, could I get dessert to go or ask for a leftovers box?

Yes, you can do this with no problem. The issue with the "no takeout" is that most of the restaurants can only handle the volume generated by the guests eating at the restaurant. Many of the restaurants, particularly the most popular ones that would have a lot of takeout orders if it were allowed, are fully booked most of the time. They don't have the capacity to prepare the extra food for takeout orders. If you have sat at the table and had your meal, it's not any extra load on the kitchen for your dessert to be boxed up to go.

When were you able to do that? we are going to stay at the CR for our first trip with our 2 y.o and would like to have a back up plan if we are not able to make it to one of our ADRs.

I've been able to carry appetizers out from the bar at Y&Y - they'll put it in a box for you. However, I do not believe you would be able to pay at the bar using DDP. If you're going to pay cash I think you'll be OK doing this. Note that if a restaurant has a bar or lounge that serves food, you might actually have some success getting food to go that way (although not if you're paying with DDP). The bar at OKW, however, will sell you food from Olivia's, but you must eat it in the bar. They won't pack it up for you.

I'm another person who stayed at CR and got take out from the Wave with success. It was 2 years ago. We did it at lunch time when it first opened and it was virtually empty! That might have helped. We also did room service there and it was very good as well.

I wonder if the bar at California Grill would? I'd love to order a cheese plate and Kazan roll to take back to my room.:cloud9: Has anyone tried? I know when I've eaten there I've gotten the cheese plate to go, as my dessert on the DDP. Of course the problem might be getting up there to order it.

She'll happily give up Y & Y if I can get her the green beans to eat with our CS meal!! Thanks Nala!

We've done it many times most recently 4/19/10 before that 9/23/09 . Had deluxe dining because we were traveling with my newest granddaughter and I wanted backup plan...lol. We are going back in 20 days..that newest g-baby turns 2 ...getting deluxe...love back-up plans!

We got a take out meal from Artist Point one year. Some friends left early and we had 2 credits left over from them. AP gave is a whole set up to go - paid for with DP credits. This was a few years ago - back when appetizers were still included. Yes - the portabello soup does reheat pefectly :thumbsup2

AP has actually pretty good if you want something - I've gotten soups to go a few times there aside from the above. Once the manager gave me a bowl for free. I was pregnant with DD and couldn't stand to eat meat - DH laughed and said "she can't eat here right now, but really wants some soup". The manager must have gotten a kick out of it as he gave us the soup for free and his card to call the next time we came in if we needed a reservation.
