taking your own alcohol?

so whats the deal with taking your own alcohol on board the shop with you these days? We would like to take our favorite Vanilla Vodka to spice up some of our sodas. Is it allowed? Do you carry it on or have it secure in your check-in?
Anyone have any recent knowledge of this?

You can take your own alcohol on board in your carry-on or in your checked luggage- just make sure that it is wrapped in bubble wrap.

We carried on a bottle of rum as well as a 12 pack of beer. No problem.

There is no problem with bringing alcohol on board. We brought beer in a collapsible cooler, it went thru the scanner when we boarded. I would suggest carrying on any bottles of liquor because they might break in a suitcase.

Did either of you have any problem with the alcohol and flying. Is it oK in your carry on on the plane or do you have to check it, or can you check ti?
Geesh, I sound like an alcoholic. thats not the case, just preferred to be prepared.

We drove so have no experience with flying and alcohol in suitcases.

There are liquor stores on the way. I would not advise flying with glass bottles.

If you carry on wine, you may run into problems in security. A residue on the wine bottle tricks the bomb test device.

I have been stopped every time I have taken wine. Since 9-11, I haven't tried.

We brought several bottles on the plane with us. My husband packed them well in an extra carry-on bag. He packed them well and then we put them in the safe while we were at the Poly (their were very nice vintages). We then brought them on board the ship and enjoyed them on the verandah or at dinner.

FYI, I was pleasantly suprised that our server did not charge us a corkage (sp?) fee for opening one of those bottles at the dinner table.
