Taking two 3 year olds by myself

An opportunity to go to DLR has come up. Although I may have a few extra hands around, my guess is that I'll have my 3 year old twins boys alone with me. They are really quite good at listening and staying nearby, and of course we'll have a stroller.

My plan is to spend the mornings at the parks (like opening-2 or 3), then maybe some rest time/pool time, and then dinner out with family/friends). They live the area, but work, so it's hard to see them in the daytime.

My biggest question is which rides will it be difficult to take them on by myself. Most of the "kiddie" rides are easy. The boys are 40 inches, and really like the idea of roller coasters (they loved Gadget's Go Coaster when were were there last March). Would we be able to do any of them as a group of three?

You'll be able to do Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, my 4 and 7-yr-olds both ride that with me. Gadget's is pretty narrow, I'm not sure if 3 could squeeze into it. I haven't tried the Matterhorn or Space Mountain without a second adult.

^^^^ look right. For Space or the Matterhorn you would probably need the assistance of another adult or repsosible pre adult. to ride with your extra child.

Another though is Splash Mountain might be ok. It can be too thrilling.

Though the back seat fits 2, and you don't sit together with anyone else on the ride so the other child could be in front of you. It's someone the same as a parent and young child in any of the other two seats, they aren't together so much anyway.

I would be worried about putting a 3-year-old in a seat alone on Splash Mountain. The seats are pretty big for such little guy. And it can be scary for little ones. If he freaks out, there's not much you can do from the seat behind, while holding another child.

Whoa, you are brave taking your boys! I would've never been able to handle my crazies by myself at that age (or any age haha).

BTMRR is awesome for the three of you. My boys love roller coasters so they would be fine on Splash at that age (although we went to WDW twice when they were 3 and only started DLR when they turned 4 -- WDW is two per row in all rows).

Not certain about the rest, but I do know that kids have to be 7 (if memory serves....or was it 10?) to stay by themselves on the side while you ride with the other child. That happened to us on Screamin' when I had both of my 5-year-olds and we weren't allowed to switch off.

You had it right the first time. The magic age is 7. At that age, they're allowed to ride by themselves on a ride with no adult supervision. Before that age, I believe that they cannot even ride in a separate row or seat.

DGD is 8. At 7, she was excited to ride in her own seat, though we always accompanied her on the ride, right behind her. On this last visit, at 8, we allowed her to go completely by herself, through the ride queues and onto the ride. We stayed close to the exit to make sure she didn't get lost. She felt sooo grown up! I overheard her bragging to her parents on the phone!

Yes, it's 7 (DD7 was thrilled to ride in her own elephant and rocket for her birthday trip). I know that on Splash kids can sit on their own row, since it is single-seating. DD4 and DD6 (then) each sat in their own single seat when we rode it in the summer.

I would recommend you go to fantasyland and mickey toontown. I took my 3 year old cousin and he loved those lands, i dont think theres any height restrictions on any of the rides. Hope you have a blast..
