Like the title says, my boyfriend and I will be taking Amtrak from PHIL to ORL. We're not sure where to go from there since we both don't drive.

Would I be able to take a bus or cab to the airport so I can take advantage of the free express? Would they ask for an airline ticket/number?

Yes, you could take a cab or car service from Amtrak-Orlando to Orlando International Airport (and take DME to your WDW resort hotel). It's around a 10-mile drive from Amtrak-Orlando to the airport.

To use DME, you need a DME reservation, but you don't have to arrive at the airport by air. Just tell them the approx. time you want to take DME.

Another option might be to take Amtrak to Amtrak-Orlando, but to skip the DME step. From there, it's around 20 miles to WDW. (Actual miles depend on which WDW resort hotel you're staying at.)

A better option might be to take Amtrak to Amtrak-Kissimmee. From there, it's only around 14 miles to WDW. (Again, actual miles depend on which WDW resort hotel you're staying at.)

You might want to consider site sponsor FL Tours and compare prices for different ground transportation options. There's a link at the top of the page.

There is no ME travel from the train station to WDW. You'll have to arrange your own transportation service. You could take a cab, or arrange a limo service.

Mears has shared service/shuttles to many places. You can check if there is one from the train station. Shared is generally less expensive.

We rode Amtrak to Disney and there were a bunch of shuttles waiting outside. We chose one and loaded up. It was a 15 passenger van and only six of us so others were in with us which meant stopping at multiple resorts.

Some (many?) of the car service companies we use for airport transfers don't service Amtrak. The trains tend to be late. Drivers can get somewhat accurate information regarding flight delays but not so much with the train.

Thanks so much!

The cab from Amtrak to disney is a bit pricey so I'm going to see if I can do the Amtrak to the airport then the express.

Cab from Kissimmee Amtrak to MCO is probably more expensive then taking a cab from Kissimmee Amtrak directly to your resort. A pre-arranged car service might be a better deal but you'll have to check.

edited to add: Taxi from Orlando Amtrak to MCO then DME is probably the cheapest way to go. I don't know if Orlando taxi drivers are required to use the meter or if they can negotiate. Make a DME reservation, not a big deal if you don't use it. Ask the driver how much more to drive you directly to your resort. My guess is you'll get to your resort at least an hour faster.
