Taking Towels Off of the Ship

I know that towels are provided at Castaway Cay, but are you allowed to take towels off the ship at other ports for your excursions there? If so, are you able to get extra towels so you still have enough for showers etc? How large are the towels on Castaway Cay? Large enough to lay on or just small bath towels?

They have towels available as you exit the ship at Castaway Cay so there is no need to take your bathroom towels.

I seem to recall towels being available at some other ports but it may have been excursion specific. Others can clarify that one.

Not only do they encourage you to take towels off for your excursions, they will have bins to return them to when you return after your excursion before you reboard.

This is great, thanks! I'm trying to figure out how to cut back on luggage and not having to pack beach towels will definitely help!

Plenty of towels are available for excursions. The towels are usually in the place where you check-in for your excursion, and they're beach towel size.

We usually take 2 towels per person. One to use and one to sit on. The catch, of course, it that we are responsible for bringing 2 each back. By that, I mean morally responsible because no one is counting the towels as you leave and return.

The towels they hand out at CC are large, but not "beach towel" size where an adult can lay one on the sand and stretch out their whole body on it.

Well, if nothing else, just pick up towels on the pool deck. But if I recall, they were handing them out as you left the ship. I could be wrong about that, though, as we only did DCL excursions and picked them up on our way out of our meeting room.

When we got off the ship at Grand Cayman, they told us 1 towel per person. I was kind of bummed since I like one to lay on and one to dry off. It ended up being fine since we didn’t go in the water, but if we had I probably would have been more annoyed.

I never had a limit imposed on towels. We usually take 6 (for the 3 of us) and they never said anything.

There are always bins of them as you disembark the ship. We have taken plenty of them on non DCL excursions. We did accidentally lose track of one at the Baths. We hoped that someone from DCL found it and brought it back to the ship.

This was our first port excursion where we needed towels, so I assumed this was a standard rule. They passed them out as we left the theater so maybe they try to get you to take less from there?

Anyways, now that we know we’ll ask for more next time!

So if we are getting off in Key West (where I know the beaches are not great) and want to go over to the beach at Fort Zachary, the ship will provide me with towels? I was planning on bringing a beach towel from home, but this would be much easier.

You might need to grab one from the pool deck. If there aren't a lot of beach excursions, they might not set up the bins at the gangway

It's most likely that each excursion meet up location has a limited number of towels. But we've never been limited as to how many to take. We typically take 2 each when we do excursions that require them.

I recommend you consider getting some from the pool deck and packing the towels in your backpack, etc prior to heading off the ship - I find getting the towels as I walked off challenging to manage...we bring the towels back as we appreciate the service...
